Casa Muertos Quest, What does it mean?
Here's a situation and some questions regarding the Casa Muertos Quest.
Disney has posted that this quest is only going to be available on Test for 3 days. The notes say that it is going to be available on Open starting September 4 and running for about 3 weeks. Since WHEN does Disney release a TEMPORARY quest, and make it level dependent??? We have proven that the final section is only available to level 20 and above. Disney has never done that before. All the special quests in the past have been available to everyone! Especially if they can only be assigned for a limited number of days. I mentioned before, I think this quest may be a lead in to the second story chapter. (Not immediately open it, but maybe have something to do with it.) The Casa Muertos Guild is working for Jolly Roger. By helping them, we the pirates are working for him, too. I believe that some of the things we are supposed to get for them are things that Jolly Roger is seeking to help him gain strength in the Caribbean. So, here's my quandry. Should we even DO this quest? Does it mean anything OTHER THAN gold and rep? By doing it, are we falling into a trap because we didn't listen to the Game Master's warnings about not helping JR and the EITC? By doing it, is it going to open up something NEW (not immediately, but sometime down the road) for those who complete it? What happens to those who DON'T do the quest, or CAN'T do it because they are too low level? IF it is nothing more than rep and gold, since when does Disney put out a quest that the littlest pirates can't do? Is this a sign that they are finally starting to realize that they should cater to the high level, long time players? Like raising the caps does? Lastly, Other quests, such as the Father's Day/ Mother's day quests, if you took them on and didn't finish them in the limited amount of time, they stayed on your journal quest list, and you could finish them aytime you choose. Will this be the same way? If I take them on, but don't finish them, will the Casa Muertos Guildmembers still be there for me, or will they go away? I think that Disney has a special purpose for those 5 guys. I don't think that they will be hanging there by the dingy's with absolutely no purpose in being there once the quest is done. Either they have some other future in the game, or else they will just disappear. I plan to finish the quest on one of my test pirates, but not finish on my second pirate. That way I will know what happens in both situations. If they just disappear, no big deal on the lost rep and gold on the second pirate. I pose all this just to get everyone's reaction.

Well, after attending a "Pre-war" gathering in game (which as shown in screen shots, a Marceline guild member, the Captain of the Casa Muertos guild, and Captain Walter played a role in) I learned a little bit more about this.
The Captain (Rott) came to Tortuga. Rott tried to sound innocent, and wanted to keep things secret from Marceline. He tried to tell us to help him dig up some "useless" items on Port Royal in the upcoming week. Once he left, a Marceline member showed up. She informed us that Rott used to be a friend of Walters, but that is not the case now. She also said he was up to no good. Finally, Walter said a lot more. He informed us that, during the attack against the EITC (when people sunk ships with the GMs), Rott was there. Rott ended up sinking to his grave. He also mentioned that, what Rott was after was protecting the Caribbean from Jolly Roger's magic. So apparently, Rott struck a deal with Jolly Roger, to be brought back. In return he has to remove the objects from Port Royal (which should let the Muertos Moon curse return). Regardless of if the quest is completed, Disney will more than likely continue with this approach if this is the case. It could very well be the next chapter close to release.. you never know

Per that story, id say they want us all to do the quests.. expect us all to do them...
To bring back Capt. Rott. himself from his watery grave so the story continues. However I would add again, that is very interesting, cool info to know, but obtained through special arrangements, and is technically not common knowledge to the POTCO playing world. If they are to implement some 'cost' to pirates for performing these tasks, they need to make information in that circumstance available on their official site. (and they still might!) |

Hehe, Is DIsney that capable? Devious? Dastardly? (Who is that man on the grassy knoll?)
I'm just curious about the fact that the quests are level dependent. This is a first.

Could be to make people think these quests are more important than they are, and trick people into doing them. They could also possibly encourage people to level up faster.. probably not it, but I wouldn't expect much out of it.

Could this be the point where Davy Jones comes into the picture? |

Well given that they mentioned the objects Rott wants are protecting the Caribbean from Jolly Roger, and Rott is attempting to remove them, it seems like a good guess. Someone also mentioned one of the buried objects being an amulet (which could be the one mentioned in the old screen shots).
I think at this point, Davy Jones wouldn't fit, at least not yet. Plus, unless he is completely finished, I wouldn't want to see him be released yet. |

Things that make ya go Hmmmm.......They don't call it Casa Muertos for no reason... Don't think I'll go there with my pirates. But that's just me. |

The Casa Muertos quest dumps a TON of gold and rep at a pirate. Who wouldn't do it? |

So again, "probably not it, but I wouldn't expect much out of it." As for doing the quest, given that regardless of what happens the outcome will be the same, I will, but its not at the top of my "to-do" list. Last edited by Sven Osymthe; 08-23-2009 at 02:51 PM.. |

I saw the tats first thing, when talking to all of them picking up the quests.
Why? Because i noted, that they should let us position our tattoos where we would like them, as we cannot put them in the same spot at the Casa Muertos guild wears theirs. And btw, that tat is available at any POTCO tat shop. |
