How To Talk Like A Pirate
Ahoy everyone! I've compiled up a list of pirate words and phrases for use on these forums and in the game! Enjoy!
Ahoy- To greet someone... which is usually a simple Hello. All Hands on Deck- To call everyone on your ship for action Arrr- To agree to something. Arrrgh- An annoyed grunt. (Think of it like Homer Simpson's D'oh!) Avast- To get someone or everyone's attention. Aye- Another way of agreeing to something. Aye Aye- To confirm that you are taking order from a captain. Beauty- The best way to adress a women in the pirate world. Belay- To prevent or stop someone from doing something. Bilge- The lowest part of the ship which is filled with slimy, digusting water inside. Booty- Anything valuable, treasure, etc. Buccaneer- A general term for Caribbean pirates. Bucko- A friend. Grub- Food. Hearty- A sailor Davy Jone's Locker- Where all dead pirates are sent. It is also a term for death. Lad- A younger person, usually a boy. Land Lubber- It really means land lover. This term is used for anyone who doesn't set sail on the sea. Maroon- To leave people on an island alone. Matey- Another way of saying a friend. Me- A word that replaces my in the pirate world. Poop Deck- Do not get confused with the behind. This is a term that means the furthest deck on a ship. Rum- The typical alcoholic drink used by many pirates. Savvy- "Do you understand?" Scurvy Dog- A simple insult. Sea Rover- A pirate ship. Shiver Me Timbers- "I'm shocked!" Smartly- To do something quickly. Swabby- A sailor. Walk the Plank- To be forced into the ocean by walking off a plank from a ship with your hands tied behind your back. Weigh Anchor- "Let's go!" or "Let's sail!" Ye- A replacement for the word 'the.' Sometimes it can be used to replace 'your.'
