While I agree that some of the skills aren't of much benefit, I disagree with your idea that Wind Catcher is "stupid." I also have 5 skill pts on wind catcher and prefer to be able to get around the sea more quickly than to be able to do some other things. If you'd rather be able to use "Open Fire" and have the ships you're sinking go down a little more quickly (but for fewer experience points, Im guessing) then that is your preferance, etc. It's all a matter of opinion, preferance and playing/sailing style.
