Need to spend my final 7 points on sailing...
How are a few things? I will have a war Frigate in a few days so that will be the ship I am tailoring the rest of my skill points on.
Tacking - have 0 in it Treasure Sense - have 3 in it Taskmaster - have 0 in it (how much shorter is the wait time?) Take Cover! - have 1 in it (sometimes works, depends on the ship firing. bump it up? when to use it the best?) Windcatcher - have a 5 in it. Ramming speed - have 0 in it (is this really that useful?) Open Fire! - have 0 in it (I read on these forums this is pretty much useless) Come About - have 1 in it (I don't plan on putting any more on this) Full Sail - have 4 in it. (Good, will 5 really make a difference?) Broadsides - I am lopsided left +0%, right +20%) What has worked best for you? How to create the most effective killing ship machine and stay alive to get the goodies back to port. Thank you for all responses!! |
I would put a point on ramming speed. I never find it useful to actually ram a ship with, but when you use it it's 5 seconds of superspeed... defintely worth one point, but no more. Makes running away from ships a whole lot easier, or just getting to your destination quicker.
Defintely max out treasure sense, now that your maxed in sailing, all you really would ever sail for in the future is more cargo, having 5 points on treasure sense gives you much more gold. Since you have a maxed right broadside, I wouldn't put any points on left broadside. I wouldn't put anymore points on Full Sail, doesn't make much of a difference... Than put the rest of the 4 skill points on taskmaster, which would make your broadsides load 12% quicker I think. Since your left broadside will be mostly useless it'd be nice to have your broadsides to load much quicker so you can kill the enemy quicker without letting it get so close. That's what I would do :degen: |
Difference of opinion here, and you might get many lol.
I have both broadsides maxed, I think it's very helpful if you sail solo a lot. If you're most with a crew, it's not such a big dea. Like Shhlatkins said, max out treasure sense. You will see a difference if the plunder you get. I also like to spend one point on ramming speed. But you have quite a bit on full sail already, so you would only need ramming speed if your full sail isn't ready to use yet. I don't think taskmaster really makes that much difference right now. I've found many of the passive skills aren't really much of an impact. I did some tests on this, and other passive skills, and with taskmaster, my friends broadside was just slightly faster. Not enough to make me want to put skill points on it. I put points in tacking, actually I have 4 in tacking. When I did a test with my friend who had none in tacking, we turned at the exact same speed. Really sad lol. Now I keep thinking that maybe in the future, these skills we find aren't that great might be tweaked in the future. So things we find useless now, could be just what we initially expected. But who knows.... So bottom line, you have 7 skill points to use. My advice: 2 - treasure sense 4 - broadsides 1 - ramming speed Good luck and congrats on getting your war frigate soon :) ps - it would be interesting to see how much damage a maxed broadside makes versus a 1 pt broadside. |
The only thing I would say to do for sure is what Shhlatkinz and Rose both said, and that is to put at least one point on ramming speed. It's not very useful for damaging ships and I never use it for that. But, I have used it countless times to make quick get aways. When you or your gunners are firing on a ship and it gets close and you see it turning and getting ready to fire, using ramming speed and then full speed will quickly get you out of range and ahead of it's fire. Then you can turn around and finish it off. One skill point on it is good, and a couple more is even quicker. And, like Shhlatkinz said, it's useful just in getting to your destination more quickly.
I would max out treasure sense, too, and the rest of it, I would say, depends on your sailing style and whether you generally sail alone or with a crew. |
Spend some on your broadsides, spend 2 more on treasure sense, and if you still have some left you should put 1 or 2 on Open Fire or 1 or 2 on Ramming Speed... it is good when you need to go fast and have already used full sail.
By the way, why did you use 5 SKILL POINTS on a stupid skill like Wind Catcher?? |

Exactly. I don't think putting down others decisions is very wise. We all have differences in how we play the game. :) I have 4 in windcatcher :p |
I was debating whether to put 5 skill points on windcatcher, or 5 points on taskmaster.
My reasoning for choosing taskmaster if because on my maxed pirate, I thought the only time I would really use my ship is to help others kill ships. Also, whenever I sail to get to a destination I usually use my light sloop that's lightning quick, especially with 3 points on Full Sail and one on Ramming Speed. Usually when I sail with my light sloop I get to my desination extremely quick, and most of the time I don't sink. Even if I need to pass by some phantoms or war ships, I usually make it by using Ramming Speed is soon as they shoot at you. Of course, Plundering Mommy knows sometimes I don't make it alive also :mybadki6: |
IF the boss battle EVER comes back up, from what I've read, the only way to take it down is with Ramming Speed. Most folks said they had three skill points on it. This may however be useless, depending on what changes they're making to the battle before it comes back on, but even if they change the Boss Battle, ramming speed is really nice for a quick getaway, or a quick way to get to a ship you want to take down. I'd put the rest into treasure sense and wind catcher. But that's just me... :) Fast and Rich...not bad for a pirate :)

Not quite right :) Ramming speed does help it along, but it wasn't the only way to take down Goliath. Each time I went through it, we went to the back of the ship and shot at a couple of spots that we could damage. Since we were sitting in back of Goliath sideways (cannot sit with your front to the back of it), we couldn't use ramming speed. |
i got 1 on open fire i dont find it useless
|
hmm i would definatly puy 5 on treasure and at least 4 on both broads
|
I have one on open fire. I find it useful when I find myself in a spot where large ships are spawning all around me and I need my crew to sink the ships quickly. I see a big change in the damage their cannons do while my broadsides recharge.
