We have roast beef sandwiches every Christmas Eve.... a roast with onions and garlic simmered for hours til it falls apart in the pan. Good beefy juice...toasted rolls... pepper jack cheese.
My grandmother always served it Christmas eve at her house.. a way to feed a large group of people quickly so we could laugh and have a good time opening family presents.
Lol.. it's the middle of the night at work... and I'm really hungry.
Oh.. and cinnamon rolls.. both of my son's in law.. would rather have a pan of cinnamon rolls for their birthdays... than a gift card. (My great grandmother's recipe.)
