Thanks for the heads up on the re-open! Also the topics as well.

ukebec 10-20-2008 04:38 AM

And I find this admin comment intriguing:

Pirates! We must find these relics that Jolly needs to summon the curse... someone must be able to help!! Has anyone seen Captain Jack Sparrow?!? Be brave and stand tall! We can stop Jolly Roger!

davy redflint 10-20-2008 12:43 PM

yea but they close the good one

ukebec 10-20-2008 02:05 PM

Oh sure - before the update was out they made sure to close the ones that would get them bombarded with negative feedback.

Of course it's a sure thing that even if they'd left them open they would have only published high praise comments anyway.

I was excited about the blog at first, but now I realize it's just a way for them to appear concerned about feedback.

Captain Seaford 10-20-2008 08:50 PM

Uh oh? A Curse? I don't wanna be on jolly roger's side!

Reaver 10-21-2008 05:47 PM

Thanks for letting me know now tp let them know just how much I appreciate this update (i am being sarcastic)
(i don't expect my comment to be approved by their mods not that its a language issue but if they censor us there like they do in the game theyll just play Big Brother with my comment and send it to the recycle bin with he probably thousands of other comments that dont agree with them)

Chris 10-21-2008 07:28 PM

Yup i wonder if my comments made it.

ukebec 10-22-2008 06:18 PM

This is just funny. Here are some of the comments in the Updates thread on the grog blog:

Quote:

I like the point reallocation. I "HATE" the fact that the compass refuses to work right. I hate that the ships go around in circles shooting so fast that you have no time to think. I hate that when you go to kill a scorpion, crab, alligator (so forth and on) that they come back tiny... (that's what we wanted tiny enemies). I hate the way the doll won't attune barely at all, been working that doll for months and now it doesn't want to work right and of course tech can't help. I hate the look of the new weapons. I hate that the glitches are gone. Basically, I'm unhappy with the update. Seriously disappointed.
Quote:

what's with the enemies running at the speed of light, going through solid walls, and being able to attack (with non-ranged weapons) from great distances? Especially in Kingshead, we had the Boss EITC guys attacking us from INSIDE a wall. He could get us, we couldn't touch him. I hope you're aware of these problems because it does lessen the enjoyment of the new features considerably.
Quote:

I don't like the looks of the new weapons and am not impressed with their strength. Also, gone are the days of just sailing around for hours sinking everything. I don't like that the enemy ships seem to be able to hit you while they are sinking, or not aiming at you. Their shots just seem to have the curve of a major league pitch or even hit you even when it shows the shots hitting the water and not your ship. I agree with an earlier statement about the bosses lvl not showing right. My level bar again shows that I am ready to turn lvl 41, but has now stopped moving. Would like to be able to continue lvl'ing up and gaining skill points, health, and voodoo for rounding out my character and for new things. We should be able to have more clothes and money too. I do like the PVP fixes, but it seems overall our characters are weaker against even simple enemies.
Quote:

still a lot of glitches. Too many 'invisible' enemies (or above my head?) that I can't fight or escape. Or wasps that are down and small, and can't be hit. Looking for some new fixes.
And then, of course, there's big D's insightful response:

Quote:

We're glad you Pirates are enjoying the latest update - skill reallocation is probably one of my favorite features in this new update too! If you're having trouble finding the new Level 5 Weapons, be sure to check out the weapons chart in the Current News section for all the Quest locations. Keep those comments coming!
Of course the fanboy/girl posts outweighed the complaints 8 to 1, but it appears that even though D posted some complaints they're ignoring them out of hand.

K so I'm posting this because the word 'cheat and cheating' are considered inappropriate Blog Language...

I tried to post this:

I changed 'cheating' to 'glitching' and it passed...

If you get your post through by changing a word or two be sure to share as it is the only way to get the 'REAL' word out... :D

Rackat 10-22-2008 07:28 PM

I doubt it will get posted. It wasn't all rah-rah-yay-Disney. Here's what I submitted:

Quote:

Iam Rackat:

If the NPC's can glitch through obstacles (like rocks, shrubs, fences and trees) to attack us, we should be able to glitch through those same obstacles to get away. The NPC's should NOT be able walk through fences, walls, trees, rocks, shrubs, etc. Even the undead should not be able to walk through these obstacles (they're undead, not ghosts). if the Navy NPC's can jump the fence, give us the same ability.

I would like for Disney to adjust the Hex shot to at least do something. I would prefer that it go back to the way it was.

Please remove the grenades and replace them with a useful weapon.

I love fighting the new bosses and the skill point realocation, but the new weapons were a dissapointment. Particularly since they do less damage.

Chris 10-22-2008 07:41 PM

Yea thats not gonna make it disney only appoves positive comments so those who havent played yet makes it seem like a great game!

Dr. Zeppers 10-22-2008 07:41 PM

The "Grog Blog" is Big D propaganda, and serves no real purpose other than to pretend to listen.

I've written several even flattering comments, and nothing gets approved.. yet some one gets

"Undead Scary" approved as a post... thats boarding line SPAM/Non-Contributive.. what was the point.. I say rename it "Big D's Joke of the day" blog.

Chris 10-22-2008 07:42 PM

Zep just saw yer post and i agree 10000% this is why disney doesnt run forums or anything because they only let the good pass.

Maximvs 10-22-2008 09:03 PM

I ageee guys... I doubt it will pass the Moderator... but just getting by their silly filter first is the trick LOL :D

Sarah 10-22-2008 11:15 PM

Can't wait to see if mine go thru...buhahaha...doubt it. I was my normal sweet smelling self....not...we'll see ;)

Rackat 10-23-2008 01:05 PM

They may not be posting them, but I am sure they are "getting" them:

We are aware of the bugs that were pushed with the latest release, and are working to fix these as fast as possible - so please bear with us as we improve your game experience.

Many of you have commented about fixes to bugs in the game that were made with the recent update - many players are glad they're fixed, while some players miss being able to take advantage of the exploits. Bugs show up occasionally, but are never intended to be in the game to begin with.

Aliese 10-23-2008 07:16 PM

LoL That's what I was talking about in my other post:

Yeah, you know those things you liked? Those were never meant to be there. :tongue8:

Ya know - I can understand this statement from the point that some bugs were not to be in the game.

For example, running off the ship is fun... but it is a bug. WE never knew what kind of 'damage' we were causing by performing this action (server degrading, POTCO world code looping) - and these I can understand having to be fixed.

Sure, many wall glitches we did were going to be fixed at some time and should be - once again the effects were unknown... instability to the POTCO world is a definite possibility.

My issue is what they claim to be bugs are not - and instead have made intentional bugs.

The KH Fence was not a bug - it was an oversite in the development of the game where players discovered that the Navy only having a hand weapon and they having ranged weapons could use it to their advantage... but now DIsney has ON PURPOSE bugged NPCs to ignore wall barriers and proceed as if the fence was not there (and very appearent when they are running through trees and other walls). Instead of designing a) a way for the NPC's to go around the fence b) NPC's to jump or c) just remove the fence they have bugged the NPCs to just ingnore their surroundings...

I never even used the fence and I strongly believe that from what I see today, this is an intentional break.

Its the same with Hex Shot - an oversite, sure. They didn't realise that players who use the Hex to the advantages they found. Once again though, instead of coding proper regen protocols for NPCs to regain voodoo so after so many seconds they could attack with 'proper' strength (hence no Life Drain 4 seconds after I finish Hexing them) they just broke the code - and now they just ignore Hex altogether.

Its a political statement given by a political Developer on their 'free and open blog' - and its full of it.

Now - if they wanna come here and debate with me their REAL purposes for these items - and fix real issues such as those in SvS and PvP (not to say many were not addreessed - but theres a way to go yet)... then its a fair arguement (and not that filtered mess...)

Aye!!! So say we all!

Maximvs really nails it. Especially this:
