the standard punishment for piracy as most of you know is execution by hanging . A pirate is caught and the judge troughs the book at him/her sentenced to five years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine what happened?

ps does anyone know if they changed the punishment for piracy or is that the same as it was in the great age of piracy.

It's the present day and hanging is no longer allowed in the country the pirate is in. That one's a guess.
