My idea of a guild house/pirate house system. (Adapted parts from the TTO style.)

Since people seem worried about houses, here's my proposal on how to accomodate this.

The location of these houses would be on an entirely new set of islands or in the current islands themselves. The catch to fixing the program to adapt to this without horrid overcrowding is to implement a 1 door infinite map program. This works through the programming of the game making a mini map each time a guild or character is made. This pirate would be assigned to the map(s) when they start the game and or guild, and these maps would not affect lagging in the game. If you are in a guild with a guild house, you would get an option of entering your home or the guild house when entering the door, and then be sent to that area. Also, to make sure this was 100% accesible, there would be a door on each major island. (Sort of like a voodoo transport system in a pirate way of putting it. ^^)

That's how TT has theres set up, only difference is you just TP to your housing.

I don't wanna go into detail about the homes themselves, just how to resolve the issue of overcrowding. (Noticed that paragraph is really, really choppy. Good Luck making sense of it! ^^)

my idea for overcrouding is simple the more members in the guild the bigger house you get and once big enough your guild can obtain a guild island

Convoys

I haven't fleshed it out, but some sort of convoy that appears at some part of the sea and travels to the other side of the map, like spanish conquistadors returning to Spain laden with gold (timeline probably wrong, but something like that). Always high level with lower level screen around. Something one ship would have trouble with, but several ships attacking together could overcome. Have it sail right past Devil's Anvil to seem inviting. Maybe several flagships as the prize, but other ships around so that if you board without cover, you may come back to a very leaky ship.

Hmm maybe I have fleshed it out!

I think of 2 things, harder enemies and another quest chapter. Harder Enemies- there has to be more harder enemies because once you lvl up everything, you can fight everything easily. Quest Chapter- Once you complete your quest you dont have that much to do.

I think they should add tons of new enemies. So far, there are not enough.Maybe, since so many people kill British soldiers every day, they should add undead English.Kinda like they did with the Undead French and Spanish. They should also add Undead Dutch, too.Their ghost ships could be war galleons, like Dutch East Indiaman,Dutch Caravel,Dutch West Indiaman, etc. Then of course,I think they should raise the max notoriety levels higher, like to lv80 or 90.Then they should add enemies that are lv40+,so if you reach lv60+,you would still have enemies that don't have grey lv tags.I have tons of ideas that I sent to the POTCO developers, about 25 ideas so far! Those are my ideas, what about everybody else?

Oh so you mean like an Expansion? That would be pretty cool.

I have some more ideas about additional enemies.Maybe they could add Undead Notorious pirates. Also they could add new ships like Ship-of-the-Line(War Frigate upgrade),Treasure galleon(War Galleon Upgrade),and Clipper ship(War Sloop Upgrade). Then they should add sea monsters, and of course Spanish and French soldiers, for the Garcia and Porc. They should also add Davy Jones, the Flying Dutchman, more Davy Jones Crew, like Moray. They should add more story chapters too. Then, like on my previous reply, they should expand the Notoriety range. Here's a list for the Undead Notorious Pirate idea.

Undead Blackbeard
Lv:70 Weapons:Cutlass Found:On a ghost ship,since he died at sea Ship:War Frigate
Undead Stede Bonnet
lv:70 Weapons:Voodoo Staff Found:In Padres Del Fuego,maybe?
Undead Henry Morgan
lv:70 Weapons:Cutlass Found:In Port Royal
Undead Bartholemewl Roberts
lv:70 Weapons:Cutlass Found:In Cuba
Undead Francis Drake
lv70 Weapons:Cutlass Found:On a Ghost ship Ship:War Galleon
Undead I'Ollonois
lv70 Weapons:Voodoo Staff Found:Isla Cangrejos
Undead William Kidd Found:at sea,maybe Ship:War Sloop
lv70 Weapons:Cutlass
Undead Brasiliano
lv70 Weapons:Cutlass Found:Cutthroat Island
Undead Anne Bonny
lv70 Weapons:Voodoo Staff Found:at sea,maybe? Ship:?
any others?

I think it would be cool to be able to change your name. Like in a quest. That would be fun, especially because I want to choose my name instead of choosing from a list of names. I didn't see that when I first got on so... I know I can make a new pirate, but I've gotten super far (IMO) and that would be bad to have to start over just because of a name change so I think they should add a name changing quest. And I think Basic members should be able to buy the rest of the "light" class of ships. Like the light frigate. Maybe.

Everyone says it, but MORE STORYLINES! Disney really needs to work on this.

Also, how about teleportation to certain islands? Or at least have the option when you log on to be at the island you were at before you logged out (aside from the teleportable islands, like Tortuga). It gets pretty repetitive sailing from cuba to tormenta, lol.

And how about higher level enemies? It doesn't necessarily have to be new enemies, just higher level enemies with a different name perhaps? Urchin fists and molusks, etc. get pretty boring after a while.

I've been having a recurring thought, so I decided to throw it up here. Feel free to tell me why it won't work - I'm sure I didn't think of all the drawbacks.

Historically pirates mainly acquired new ships by overcoming other ships and keeping them.

Here's my idea: If you're in SvS you should be able to take on an NPC flagship.

1. Captain decides which members of crew will board - not all can (for a reason)

2. Crew boards and defeats NPC crew. NPC crew does not respawn

3. Crew that boarded must stay aboard the captured ship to defend it

4. New cannon would have to be added to the stern of each ship (usefull in open game anyway)

5. Captain's ship would use the stern cannon to grapple the captured ship's bow

6. Captain would tow captured ship to a non-wild island

7. Of course, both ships are much more vulnerable during this undertaking, but the reward is great

8. Crew of captured ship would keep any plunder gained during the tow. Captain would get his/her share, but crew on Cap's ship would not get a share. Same is true with Captain's ship - any plunder from there belongs to that crew only with Captain getting their share

9. Upon landing Captain has 3 options a) Keep the captured ship for him/herself b) Give or sell the captured ship to a crew member c) Captain can sell the ship to a shipwright

10. Player that ends up with ship must pay (and dearly) for repairs. Captured ship would then be colored differently (perhaps blond wood) to signify that it is plunder

11. Player with captured ship could then configure the ship to his/her liking, i.e. cannon placement, number of cannons (with a set limit, based on the class of ship), Captain's quarters, broadside configuration, and a pirate-designed flag to replace the original NPC flag.

12. The player with the captured ship would have a subtitle under their game name; Admiral!

That's it. Whoever ended up with the ship would have a cool "look at me" item, Captains with lots of gold have another way to help friends get ships, and the ship customization that so many want could be implemented.

And of course - there's the danger of treachery that is always a risk with pirates. The Captain agrees in advance to give the ship to so-and-so, but then reneges on deal upon porting. Good times ensue! (just kidding, but I wonder if this hasn't already happened with a player agreeing to "help" someone with gold at poker and then cleaned them out instead - Pirates!)

Also, I'd like weapons dealers on Cuba. It's not a wild island - there's a shipwright and a gypsy healer there. If you were fighting alone on Tormenta this would be a HUGE benefit.
__________________________________________________ ____________
And I'd like "dingle drops", as in Jack Sparrow's dingles. You would only have a possiblility of receiving a dingle drop against the new Boss enemies. Buttons from Navy bosses, stingers from Wasps, claws from Scorps, bones from Undead, etc. Then you could visit a tailor and pay to have them fashioned into items you could hang from your bandana, hair or belt.

This would be a great idea - I hope the developers do it.

A guild could buy a spot - like a tavern or house in a town (like Padres), or even a tent in the jungle or a cave off of one of the main caves. Only guild members could get in. Maybe they could decorate it, buy flags, or tables and chairs, even buy a card table or some enemies.

Inside it would act like a forum. Post letters on the wall that could be answered just like a forum. That would really help with guild retention and player retention in general. Right now people jump in and out of guilds and eventually leave the game entirely since they have very little reason to stay in contact with each other. I mean, look at a guild with level 14-20, and other members 30+. They don't adventure together much unless a higher level wants to help out some lower levels. IF people talked more to each other that would make it more compelling to stay in contact.

And reading over the thread I see this has been discussed in length

Anyways - this would go a long way towards player retention - even if it would be a lot of work for the moderators to keep track of.

I am probably one of the older players. I started playing at the request of my grandson, and I have found the game to be quite fun despite many, many shortcomings (as compared to real MMORPGs).

I played EQ for 6 years, SWG for 1, and now Vanguard for almost a year, so I am used to many features that are lacking in PoTC.

The Good:
- Nice water graphics, especially the reflections, water color, and waves.
- I really like the sea battles, and the feel of maneuvering the ship.
- I like the skill point system for each weapon and sailing skills.
- The 'light-in-the-sky' for quest directions.
- Poker and Blackjack - well done !
- The game is a nice 'entry level' MMORPG. A good way to introduce those who are new to the genre.

The Bad:
- No first-person view. I hate playing in 3rd person view - too much like old Diablo I & II.
- It's hard to tell which NPC's have quests to offer. I have approached some NPCs several times, and they have nothing for me, then after I level-up they have a quest for me. But I would never know it unless I talk to every NPC every time I level up.
- Once I complete a quest, I often have no idea where to find the NPC who gave it to me.
- NPC targeting. When fighting multiple mobs, my target seems to switch from one to another. And the targeting for the voodoo doll is really awkward. Once you click on a target, it should remain your target until dead or until you switch to another.
- Too many invisible walls/barriers that prevent me from moving.

The Ugly:
- The chat system really, really sucks. I understand the need to protect younger players from vulgarity, but you can't even use numbers or other player's names in chat. Also, there isn't any way to repeat a message without re-typing it, or to scroll through missed messages. Really, really bad chat system.
- No global chat, so it's hard to ask for help.
- Very little in-game instructions. For example, I did the dagger quest with Elizabeth Swan. When I finished I went to buy daggers but couldn't because my dagger wasn't level 5. For several levels I had no idea I now had a dagger as my F4 weapon, and I needed to use it in hand-to-hand combat to level it up. That's just one of the many frustrations I have faced - and I'm an experienced player. How can they expect kids like my grandson to figure it out ???
- Did I mention that the chat system sucks ???

Bottom line though, I am enjoying playing with my grandson. He lives 70 miles away and I see him about once a month, so this gives us a chance to do something together more often. When he is isn't playing, I like to solo the sea battles, or play poker - but eventually I head back to Vanguard.

I think the guild system needs work. Not everyone should be able to create a guild. No one wants to join any guilds because they have there own.
