Hmmmm...what has scared me?
Well, being that I mostly play FPS games, I'd say the first time was probably the original Half Life...nothing makes you jump like that first head crab in the air duct... Then of course you have first person horror games like F.E.A.R. and Clive Barker's Undying...now remember Clive was the one who gave us the Hellraiser movies...there are parts of that game that are just down right scary/creepy/freakish... In S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl, there is a part when you go underground and run into a certain enemy...I won't spoil it for you but if you play it, you've been warned... Finally, like many, I play games in the dark with the surround speakers turn up for that whole scary atmosphere...and one game series played this way will give you that scare and then some...in the first THIEF, there's a part where you're in an underground tunnel maze...you can hear them all around you...but you don't see them until...yep you guess it...BAM!...jump out of your seat scare...dang incredibly large spiders... But even worse is the third game in the series...THIEF: Deadly Shadows...by far an excellent game...however there is one level which PC Gamer magazine has said might be PC gaming's greatest level ever made - The Cradle...it's a twisted story of child abuse, murder and depravity in an orphanage...told through by architecture and ghostly flashbacks...by this I mean when you first get there you go through the ruins of this orphanage which is just down right creepy...think Ghost Adventures or Ghost Hunters tv shows...but then you actually flashback to when it was all going on which includes those crazies which were locked up in certain rooms except now they're roaming free... I swaer this one was like at the end of the hall...and then he somehow phased walked in the creepiest of ways right into my face on the monitor...had my heart racing and royally freaked me out to where I had to stop playing for a few minutes...was awesome... |

What scares you in a game?

Thief: Deadly Shadows is as scary as heck.
I played in the Cradle level, and it is so freaky. Not really the bad guys or the ghosts, but the SOUNDS. The place has extremly scary sounds that make you jump at every corner. In fact, the whole game is tense as you are a thief sneaking into places... the undead level in the ship was scary too. |

The certain S.T.A.L.K.E.R. enemy brought into question by Cap'n Nightwolf was horrifying to me...
First time I did "All Ghillied Up" on COD4 and had to lay in the field as the enemy army goes past made me statuesque... The Max Payne flashback levels were eerie... Maybe I think that because I kept fallING OFF THE FREAKIN' EDGE!!!!... Ok, freak-out over. F.E.A.R. was traumatizing. I still have nightmares of Shocker... Eugh... Doom 3. Jeez, what wasn't scary about that? Dead Space, in space... No one can hear you scream... Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth was horrifying as well. However, it was fun to get your character to off himself by scaring the daylights out of him... Annndd... Silent Hill 2. I'm horrified of Pyramid Head. -shudder- |

Ok, so i was at my friends house and i was sleeping over right? and it was like three in the morning and we were bored so we decided to play Bioshock. (BEST GAME EVER!) So it usually doesn't scare me and stuff, but we decided to do a new game, and when you first go down that pod elevator thingy and then you see that splicer that totally MURDERS the guy on the outside, I was like, okay, that was kinda weird, then you hear it trying to get in and i totally freaked out. His mom wasn't too happy to see us playing video games that late xD Best freakin night EVER!
