I think there are a few different varied levels of parental controls at hand here, some of which I think block ALL but speedchat.

Kids just not knowing how to spell, type, or communicate may be part of the problem also.


I have played the game with my coworkers 11 year old. He had NO parental controls to complicate communication. It was all I could do to get him to tell me what he needed, and I KNEW he could see what I was telling him. Between attention span, and not wanting to type, etc.. it was frustrating. But not his fault, hes 11. Smart kid, but a youngster just the same.

Well, first thing I would do is complain to the POTCO people. This is a major inconvenience in a game with no other way to communicate.


As for the plus sign, it comes on whenever you click the little though bubble next to the chat box. Maybe you're accidently double clicking? Easy to do since the chat arrow is right where the thought bubble appears.

I have a friend that has had chat issues, but it's because he sometimes uses a laptop, and the graphics card on it can't handle the smaller details, such as chat. He can type to me, but he can't read anything. He would ask me a yes/no questions. Then he had me wave at him for yes, and do the no motion for no. It was funny, at the time. Had to learn a whole new way of communicating in the game.

I've had the chat glitch a few times myself, and luckily all I've had to do was log out and log back in and it was fixed. Not being able to talk REALLY annoys me, lol.

I've had this issue more than once. The way I understand it is that children with parental controls set cannot see our chat at all. I've had people ask me for help and no matter how I try to answer them they would not see an answer. I felt so bad for this poor girl, she said "gee it was a simple question, why won't you answer me?" As a Mom, I felt really bad she thought I was being rude! Is there any way around this? I even tried the pre-typed chat but they can't see that either. I wish there was at least a way to say "Sorry, I can't help you."

I've had problems with chat since I became a member about a month ago. Same issues as everyone else; some chats I can see, some I cannot and vice-versa. Whats really frustrating is the Guild I joined can see my chat but I cannot see theirs. The only time I am able to participate with the Guild is when my friend and I are on the phone. He tells me whats going on. Whisper doesn't always work either; my friend can see my whisper but I cannot see his.
So frustrating! Logging out and back on has no affect. I will try contacting support and post another reply with the outcome. Wish me luck!
