A War Galleon is for the far-distanced crew, the kind that can just sit and fire at a ship in the distance from the side. In broadside range, any ship approaching won't likely damage you a tad. A War Frigate has the ability to do this slightly better with more cannoneers, and slightly worse with less, though it does give the option to pursue a large ship, or to do this tact coming at you headlong. The War Sloop is for the more engaging sailor, not the crew reliant.
Choose your pick. The Light Sloop is the only other possible thing for consideration, and I digress. |

you should first by a war galleon since it can cary the most cargo you can easily get the money for a war frigate and if you want you can always by a war sloop for island hopping.
ps. if you want to get the money for the frigate real fast a 5 dotted treasure sense really helps

i bought all the war ships and i say war frigate is much better than war galleon first war frigate has better armor and health 12600 war galleon 10800 health the war galleon has 12 broadside things the war frigate has 10 or 9 broadside things the war frigate has 4 front cannons and they all can be swiveled to a side and 6 mid deck cannons and 2 upper deck cannons and 2 on the poop deck close by for the captain to grab a cannon to the war galleon has 8 mid deck cannons and 2 poop deck cannons note the poop deck cannons on the war galleon are facing forward but arent much of use when captain is sailing because sails block view

I love the frigates! I like all of the cannons that they offer. It's so much easier with a small crew to run from one cannon to the next to be able to get off shots. It will also hold more crew members, if you want to get a large crew going and still carry a nice cargo.
![]() The war galleon is nice if all you want is to load up on gold, which does come in handy when trying to recruit a crew. The problem is there are a lot of glitches with the war galleon that can be frustrating. My friends and I started calling them 'water bugs'. You'd be shooting one of the cannons on the main deck, then let go to switch sides, and end up floating over the water. This can be fun when you WANT to do it, but not when your ship is under attack. You can't get back on deck without tping or pushing through a weak spot, either. And then you'll have to do it all over again. It makes for a fun glitch every once in a while, because you fly along beside the ship, but...... As far as the specifics of each ship, it may be easier for you to actually go on the game to the shipwright and click on the different ones to compare them. It will bring up the specs for all of them, and you won't automatically buy them. You have to actually click on 'Buy'.

ok this is what i think!!!!
you should use war galleon to solo becasue it has more broadsides then frigate but less cannons... if you have a crew use the frigate and when you have a sloop use it too island hop hope this helped! |

I'm in love with my galleon. But I want a frigate for ship quests.

Get a war frigate first because they can get a bigger crew. End of story. After that get the other ships.

Yup I agree. I was trying to prove to a friend that the light sloop is faster than the war sloop. (Coz I was thinking about ditching my war sloop & buying the light sloop) Me & another friend had a race. I have 4 pts in windcatcher & took my war sloop. He had 1 pt in windcatcher & took his light sloop. GUESS WHO WON.
Pretty embarrassing! The light sloop got sooooo far ahead of me that it went off my map/compass!!!!!! And we did it all unskilled, no fullsail or ramming speed or anything, just relied on windcatcher. So....having only 1 pt in windcather can outsail pretty much everyone we have also concluded if you are in a light sloop. |

I agree with admiralsavvy, i think that there is no best ship, just different ships to suit different needs

Well, it really depends on how you sail, like Admiralsavvy said.
-If you like ducking in and out of shots so they don't hit you, stick with a sloop, light if you have patience, war if you like to get big jobs done quickly. -If you like getting sunk, take a war galleon. (Sorry, I don't know if this proves true with the new updates, but sailing before I'd sink like crazy when getting shot in the front.) -In all seriousness, if you like to use broadsides as your primary means of sinking enemies and want the largest haul you can get, buy a war galleon, or the galleon of your best class. -If you like to have a large crew and a balance of broadsides and speed, use the war frigate. If you can get a big crew together and sail on the frigate of your class, you can very easily sink ships faster with one of these than the frigate. Like said, it depends. I prefer the sloop, but that doesn't mean it's the best ship for you. Experiment, explore, learn: that's the best way to go about choosing a ship. |

I agree with that line of reasoning as well. |
