I don't think the lower level advantage theory is accurate. I've gotten several items the past few days - including my very first sea charm of any kind. I've got two of El Patron's swords (causing me to wonder how many he had, and how scatterbrained he must have been to lose so many). I just got a Famed blunderbuss two nights ago that I am growing very fond of.
The upper level dolls have been slow, and I haven't seen any staff's worth keeping. So, my perception is that the randomness remains. |

WTG Rannulf!! I was just wondering the other day if it was still being dropped.. * sigh * at least there is still hope for poor, unlucky, almost relic-less, unable-to-earn-rep, Cougar.

Prior I found only the Lucky Charm back in April. Darkheart needs to sail back to Ravens Cove to stock up. I have not got a thing from him good in a long while. I went from pistol level 27-30 and did not keep a single item he dropped. The gold was good thats it. |

I also have this sword and it has been quite a disappointment. It seems the Drain Voodoo attribute is not functional. I emailed Disney and they said I should ask other pirates about it. Seriously, this was there response:
Thank you for contacting us. The Lost Sword of El Patron is a very strong and rare weapon of great power. Congratulations on acquiring it! Its properties and abilities are known to only the few who have found it in loot. With that said, we recommend speaking to your friends and allies' who wield it to see if this issue it particular to you or if it is common. We hope this helps! Kenny Pirates of the Caribbean Online Member Services So, like a good little pirate I did what I was told. I haven't found any El Patron bearing pirates so far that have experienced or can demonstrate the Drain Voodoo attribute. (Do not confuse Drain Voodoo with the more common Damage Voodoo found on other weapons) I emailed Disney back with my findings and.....no response back from them. Shocking. I posted this question on another part of this forum, but I post it here again. Does anyone have proof that the Drain Voodoo attribute of El Patron works? |

Mystery Solved
Here is the response I got from Disney regarding the Drain Voodoo function:
Thank you for contacting Pirates of the Caribbean Online. The "drain voodoo" skill is intended to drain the power of any voodoo enemy whom you attune and use the skill against. The "drain voodoo" damage will also display in blue above the enemy you are currently defeating. However, due to a known technical issue within the game, this skill is not working as designed. The Pirates Online Crew is hard at work resolving this error. As soon as the issue is resolved, we will post a notice on the Pirates of the Caribbean website in our Release Notes. You view all the current and past Release Notes at: http://piratesonline.go.com/v3/#/news/releasenotes.html We thank you for your patience while we look into this issue and, we hope to see you in the Caribbean again soon!
