Which mode do you run Pirates in?

I use custom. Everything on Medium except: Scenery Detail Level - High; Reflections - off; the four boxes unchecked. This allows me virtually no lag as I SvS a lot. I usually run in Fullscreen mode though I can run multiple instances of POTCO in Windowed mode with not too much lag. I would suggest to everyone that you try adjusting the various settings, and the graphics API, to see what works best for your particular computer set-up.

I have a computer with 4 CPUs running at 2.5 GHz, so I use High.

Depends on which computer I am using at the time. When I am using the new one with 4 Gigs RAM + 1 Gig on board Nvidia graphics processor, I use high of course.

When I'm on the old-as-dirt machine... low-

Low. Because my computer freezes every 10 seconds even on low for 2 minutes straight or lags a lot....

My computer doesn't like Low, nor can it take Low - I use High

i choose low, if u have a nice way to make it unlaggy please help meh... i hate low detail! XD

I run mine in medium, if I try to do it in high, there is way to much lag.

I'll usually use medium. But during an invasion I also use low.
