Ya those kind of things are very cruel, trying to lead people along, i have heard rumors of it being here by Christmas though with the way its going they would have a lot better luck with scrapping this game and creating a POTCO 2 with a different engine and better overall play ability.

For the record, there are several textures specifically for the kraken in the games phase files. There are even sounds for it (ie kraken roar). This gives us signs of them working on it. Unfortunately doesnt mean it will ever be publicly released (or when it will be).

Rumors are such wonderful things. They are quite effective in keeping the masses wondering.

Rumor was that it would be released this spring.
Rumor was that it would be released this summer.
Rumor was that it would be released this fall.
Now the rumor is that it will be released by Christmas?
Do I get dibs on rumoring that it will now be released in Spring of 2010?

First, I agree with you, unfortunately Disney seems to be focused on two engines to support their games. Panda3D (Potco, and Toontown), and Flash (PixieHollow). Flash would never do the game justice. I dont see Disney venturing into any of the higher end engines that would require reinvestment, and redevelopment of the project. And being an MMO, I doubt there will be a POTCO 2, just new versions/releases of the current POTCO.

i agree Zep but they could at least go along with WoW and have different versions? like instead of wrath of the lich king, a new version that would play on the same servers could be "reign of barbossa" or something like that with a totally different story line. I wouldnt mind buying expansion packs and stuff like that if the game was any where near that good.

I understand what your saying (i think). But they would have to change the server software, etc as well. Cant host two different engines like that. Well maybe its possible, but they would have to be separate instances, you think it lags now... WOA! And the game play would be entirely separate, those running the panda3d version would not be able to interact with those in a different engine, as their server instances would have to be separate.

Keep in mind it may have been a personal joke amongst this persons friends, and not meant to mess with all us pirates heads.
We hadnt really heard of this video, as it wasnt really brought to others attention. Youtube makes it easy to share with friends, but others can find/view it and could possibly come to the wrong conclusions.

well i think it is on test in uncharted waters at night but is hard to find (not excatly sure bout this but...) i know it is possible but maybe won of you guys can throw a stickey on this? because i am in test sever so ill try to keep it updated

Mate, I haven't been on test since... whenever.... but I'm sure, the Kraken is not out yet. It WOULD say so in the Test's Game News. But I'll check just to be sure.

I am sure the kraken will come in due time....well overdue at this point however consider the following.....

As far as them taking a long time to release this im sure its due to the fact that creating a major game update while at the same time updating the currently running version and keeping out as many bugs as possible is no easy task. (anyone remember when you could get behind just about any wall in the game?).....not so much anymore

disney is a huge company and anything they touch turns gold.....but they make sure what they release is a good product, if it carrys their name its gotta be right.

i dont know about many of you but i have been playing for well over a year now. since WAY before the islands changed and when privateering wasnt even around. i left the game for a few months and came back to see everything had changed.....that right there impressed me and got me right back in the game that they could do that much of a change in a few months

they will get the kraken out there im sure and they will get the second story quest going im sure...as far as im concerned they are doing a pretty darn good job with what they have. Im just happy to have something to do in the game for now. you dont see a whole lot of level 50s out yet so many are like me and were previously mastered and had NOTHING to do for a LONG time....im just happy there is something to look forward to.

i hope this wasnt too terrible of a rant and ramble and kept on topic.

I thought I remember reading on PiratesOnline.com that the Kraken, new story quest, and inventory system is gonna be released this year... unless Disney releases them before January 1st 2010, then they lied to us.
