New to the game, and thinking about going Unlimited...

Hi everyone! I just started playing POTCO yesterday and have quickly fallen in love with the game. I'm planning on buying one of the three month game cards from Wal-Mart tomorrow, but I have a (probably very noob-ish) question.

Since I just started playing yesterday, my nortoriety is only at 7. I heard that's the highest you could get to on basic. If I get my card tomorrow should I go ahead and activate it right away? I'd like to get as much "free" stuff done as I can before I start using up my paid days.

I'd get the weapons as high as you can for one, though its your principle, not mine; if leveling, a lower noto helps, and I take it you've been doing quests. Well, for one, the forums are something that most people who just start don't have. I'd learn technique to play before getting the card, and try learning of what the game has.

See some screenshots, look around, etc., and become an expert first.

Hm, that sounds like a good idea. I've been reading around the forum all evening and have been picking up various little tid bits. I'm still new so I don't understand it all just yet but that'll come in time I suppose.

Perhaps someone could share their view on the best tactic to go about playing the game?

Definitely buy the card, but don't use it until you are around level 10 or 11. Then you can start getting the benefit. If you hit a wall where your quests can't be done before that, then it maybe worthwhile, but I think 10 or 11 is about that time.

I missed out on Founder because I wanted to see how far I could get before paying for the game, but I don't see any loss (apart from a shiney gold name) as I live in the UK and didn't receive any of the freebies. Sorry - that rant was off topic.....

Welcome to the game. If you need any help, have a look through the guild threads. Many people will be willing to lend a hand. Don't worry about noobish questions, but have a search first as it will probably already have been asked.

Best tactic to play? Well there are a few threads on that too lol. Some believe you should just play the game and do the quests, others believe you should do your own thing and level your weapons. It is purely a personal preference. I did a bit of both. When a quest required better weapons, I went and levelled. When I got bored, I followed the quests. More important is the fact that you should play the game and have FUN FUN FUN.

When you get a game card, it gives you a site to go to, and a code to enter. After you do all that, all you have to do is verify it, then BOOM you have Unlimited Access
I used to get game cards, so I know whats its like

And as far as I know they dont sell game cards at Wal-mart, they do sell them at Target and Bestbuy though
Good luck mate

Welcome aboard, mate!

My suggestions:

1--choose a good guild. Being in a guild will be exceptionally helpful when those too-tough-to-do-alone quests come around. Having a helpful friendly guild to stand by ye and see ye through really makes a huge difference in yer gaming experience.

2--Seems like you've hit your basic noto cap, so at this point I'd try to get all my weapons leveled as high as I could. Againm guild-mates can help here. Once ye've maxed yer basic access, THEN go unlimited.

3--PLAY the game for FUN! If all ye do is chop on ccreatures and sail from one island to another it will get exceptionally repetetive quickly. Get out and just play! Find some friends (have I mentioned joining a uild yet?) and just enjoy yerselves!

Hope this helps.

Arrow You should keep going

Go to level nine first, then use the free pass, you can do all the basic stuff with it. Also once you exeed the limit for basic and your three months left you keep your high level (exapamle: im level 25 now so when mine runs out i will be basic with level 25).

The max basic level is 13. Before i was unlimited i got enough money to buy a good class ship like a War Sloop, Frigate, or Galleon.

Ah, thanks everyone, you've been a big help! I didn't buy the card today but I can always run back into town when I'm ready to get it. I'm gonn get everything I can out of free first (get the max on everything I can). Then I'll go and buy the card. But thanks for all the advice, I'm definitely going to look into joining a guild so that I'll have some more help when the time comes

If I were you i'd level up weapons. Easiest way to level up yer notoriety.
