Lag, Lag, LAG!!!!!
This game lags like crazy for me! When I run, my character looks really choppy. I can only play on quiet worlds so the game doesnt freeze up. When ever I start a battle, the game freezes and the enemy appears behind me. The game occasionally freezes during sea battles, but not as much. I can't even watch the cutscenes because they're so choppy! People, I need help!

Mine does the same thing. You need a better computer or internet connection. I currently can't afford a better computer...but have learned to deal with the lag. It just became a part of the game for me.

So you're saying I need to buy an entirely new computer?

Yes or upgrade your graphics card and get more RAM on your exisiting computer. You could try playing with the option and setting them all to low low low that helps alot.

Surprisingle, Chris, setting everything to low just seems to make my computer lag more.

Not a whole new computer...just new parts.
My graphics are currently set to "ultimate ****" and it still lags. I should probably try a non-wireless DSL connection to help things out, but I think it's my RAM and graphics card. |

Add ram (good ram 5300 or better 5300 is 667mhz) and make sure its from a reputable company

Ok, while everyone is telling folks to get new hardware...
The last week, POTCO has been extremely laggy, and its not my computer. The open servers have displayed erratic behavior, and severe lag in many instances. Before someone says it is my computer, understand I am a computer geek. My living room is filled with computers. When POTCO suddenly becomes laggy on all of them, and your internet connection tests fine to POTCO, etc (I used to work for a game server company, i know how to track connectivy issues, its not that). Then it points towards POTCO's servers/code that is causing the lag. POTCO servers have been excessively laggy for the past week, this is a FACT |

Well, that's good to know. I actually had less of a lag problem last time I signed on...until an enemy ship shot some firebrand my way.... Quote:

it depends if you have a slow internet connection or an old computer, or both
If you think its just slow internet, then theres really just nothing you can do, maybe just reset your Modem, or router if you have one. If its a slow cp then I have many solutions, here are a few: defrag it, follow these steps (unless you know how to do it >>Start Menu >> All programs >> Acessories >> System tools >> Disk defragmenter ( you can also do just Disck cleanup, its much quicker) The defrag takes a few hours to do another solution is to update your cp. I dont know if you have Vista, Mac, Or WIndows, but the update thing can usually be found somewhere in the start menu Something ive used recently that has really helped: ccleaner ccleaner is almost just like disk cleanup, except it cleans EVERYTHING! visit this site: ccleaner.com >> Download ccleaner now ignore all the paypal stuff, you can just get all this for free ![]() >>download from filehippo >> go from there ![]() I hope this was helpful, I have alot of lag too, but all this has helped me, I hope it can help you too

Yes, it's been pretty bad the last few days. However, Eric, it may help if you let us know what kind of system you were running?

Actually I followed the advice of a thread in the archive that said to change something to windows Classic, and the game is running better than it ever did. It is still a bit slow, but hey, I'm happy!
