Fastest Ship? Light Sloop?
Hey all, I'm wondering what the fastest ship is. I'm also wondering what the exact order of ship speeds is.
My guess is that the fastest ship is the War Sloop. Or is it the Light Sloop? Or are they the same speed? Also, of frigates, which is faster, Light Frigate or War Frigate? And which is faster, War Frigate or War Sloop? Basically, if someone has tested it out, please post a list of which ships you know to be faster than which ships. In particular, which are the fastest Sloops and Frigates. Thanks! |

I cannot speak for its accuracy, and dont know the method used.
But inquiring minds have wanted to know before, and gave testing it a shot: http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...ead.php?t=6795 |

Sweet! Thanks for the link, I appreciate it. Assuming it was done well, that's exactly the testing I wanted to see, and the guy writing it seemed credible enough.

Light sloop FTW... vs. War sloop
My friend & I tested it out last month. I have 4 in windcatcher, took my War sloop. My friend has 1 in windcatcher, took his Light sloop. Raced from Tortuga to Cuthroat I think, can't remember. Mmmm, my friend got soooooo far ahead of me, he was OFF my map/compass LOLOL. Not joking at all. We didn't use full sail/ramming speed or anything, just plain & simple up arrow to sail forward. |

Hm, fair enough. I have 5 in windcatcher and I stopwatched Sloop v. War Sloop from Port Royal to Devil's whatever, and they both ended very close to 50 seconds exactly (which kindof confirms the same test performed by the guy who tested the stuff in the link above).
But, this doesn't include the Light Sloop. I'll have to buy one real quick and check that out. (Btw, if you're going to try this test, I recommend using a "Quiet" server, cause that will allow your ship to spawn alone at port royal, and less ships might get in your way) |

The light sloop being fastest makes sense.
The ratio of sail area, to drag area (hull in water), is larger than that of the larger ships. So less sail perhaps, but alot less boat = Faster! |

The sloop is the fastest ship.
The galleon is the slowest and is made for cargo. The frigate is in the middle. It's not the fastest but it's just right to me. The War sloop is faster than the War frigate. |

I'm still curious about the War Sloop v. the Light Sloop in terms of speed.
Gonna test this soon and post the result. |

I play two pirates at the same time and I've raced them diff ways. I used to think the lite sloop was fastest but its not this week one of my war sloops would leave it behind?
Ive got many ships on my diff accts and 6 pirates that are mastered at sailing so ive tryed diff combos and i think they have changed lately? On test a dev did tell me when you are leveling up the "build of the game" at that time sets your sailing? That made no sense to me, but if that was true then diff pirates made at diff times would have a diff in their skills? Anyway on test i did sink "The Love Boat" ....LOL We know that dev was a joker.. later.........ice |

Is it possible, the overall system speed, connectivity, etc for each computer/system playing could cause it to vary slightly?
