Thrawn's Monday Poll: Tormentia-ing newbies
Hi all, figured I'd get a feel for the way the community feels about things by posting hypothetical questions each week.
The Situation: You are a higher level player (level 30+) soloing in Tormentia cave. While finishing off your latest prey, a lower mild-level character runs toward you being chased by a Seabeard. Obviously he's running for his life. The Question: (choose one) Are you most likely to.........? A) Heal him, and kill nasty Seabeard. Then offer to crew with him to keep him safe. B) Heal him, and kill the Seabeard, but the newbie is on his own. C) Just Heal Him, you did your good deed D) Kill the Seabeard, not caring about the poor little newbie's fate. E) Not get involved, Seabeards are dangerous! F) Attune the newbie, heal him, tell him you'll help him while he fights the beastie, then do nothing as the newbie is Stunned and Bladestormed straight to the Locker! That ought to teach him to stay out of Tormentia. Enjoy! |

Oh - i'm gonna get in trouble for answering this - I've been getting slapped all day! LOL
I choose D - with a note! I WOULD choose B - but newbies don't know usually that when under attack they should run to you first - so you can 'tune' then then the Seabeard behind them - then they keep running while you heal - attack at the same time ![]() In most cases though, they don't slow down so the best you can do for them is D - get lucky to 'tune' the Seabeard' then just attack him and hope he dies before the newbie does.... Some though deserve F... ![]() I HOPE this doesn't get me any grief! Got enough for today!

Depends to me on just how mild/low level this other pirate is.
If hes strong enough to allow me to heal him, and have a chance at killing the Seabeard, then i'd go B. Heal the pirate, and kill the seabeard (presuming im helping him kill the seabeard at this point). If hes weak, running around so I cant tag him to heal him, and not going to make it anyways... I just settle for D. (at least after the Seabeard stopped running around..) As for E, wheres your sense of adventure!!! Never F, id rather just watch him run... I would probably just feel sorry for the lil guy and heal him. Sea beard is a tough bugga and has beaten me to a pulp on many occasion. The only problem with helping people is that suddenly you are their best friend and they follow you like a lost puppy. I don't know how it happened but one time a level 2 managed to get on my boat though that scurvy dog was neither on my friends list nor in my guild. Glitch perhaps. Well (and I can't believe I am admitting to this but) I marooned him on a deserted island. Hhhmmmm...does that make me a bad pirate? Do pirates have morals other than whats in The Code?

I guess it really would depend on how nice im feeling lol, but newbies shouldn't be in Tormenta in the first place.

Well, Id probably be the newbie since im level 22, but If I was level 30+ then I would pick B. Unless if im in a bad mood, then Id go with F.

my view is a little of D and E. I would ignore till the noob died and then I would take out the Seabeard. its the only way a player is going to learn what they are capable of going up against. If you help them out, they are going to expect someone to be there. Also I do not believe in the healing aspect of the voodoo doll cause it is too easy of a way for some noob to leech off of my kills. Stick to Port Royal and Tortuga till you are ready for the big time. You do not learn anything if everything is done for you. I have alreay gained quite a "fan club" for my actions/views but im sticking to my guns. I didnt work this hard learning the ins and outs of the game for the last two months so some noob could follow me around and use me for points. Sorry for the rant but its been eating me alive for the last week.

I'm going with D, and possibly F.
I flat out tell the noobies in Tormentia that I can't guarentee their saftey, and I'm pretty much only looking out for myself (If rolling with my guild its another story). |

if hes under 30, id let him die with no intervention, people need to learn the hard way, that being in a dangerous place utterly above your level, bad things will happen, its usually the ones who tp in with friends, and ive lost count of how many times ive seen level 10-20 noobs shoot one in the face wiuth a pistol, its not worth it to even try to save them, as they couldnt do more than 1 damage anyways.
howver if theyre above 30, i heal, and use dirt, curse, just status modifiers to the enemy, so he has a better chance, and after its over, try to steer or suggest a better place to level, or a different tactic, or even offer to heal while they take on more if i need a break. |

G. Grab the popcorn and watch to see if he makes it out.
Seriously, it's not like dying in this game really hurts. It's one thing if it's someone who's high enough to handle the zone, but if the only mobs in Tormenta that you can handle are the bats, then you shouldn't be there. Besides, if you help him, you run the risk of him hanging around to "help" you, and leech some risk-free rep from your kills, which is usually why the lower-level players go there in the first place. |
