invasions

last saturday i was part of my 1st invasion. i have some questions. have the undead ever made it to the goveners mansion before? and what hapend? if they havent what do you think would happen? and how ofen do invasions hapen? PS this is my 1st post i want to say hi.

First, welcome to the forums! And yes, it is possible to lose an invasion. When Jolly reaches his destination, he'll begin attacking it. When he completely drains its health, the place will start to burn (invasions happen on 3 different islands; Port Royal, Tortuga and Padres Del Fuego. When Jolly is attacking Port Royal, he's heading to the Governor's Mansion. When he's attacking Tortuga, he's heading to the Faithful Bride. And when he's attacking Padres Del Fuego, he's heading to the centre of the town.).

Jolly will then disappear, and you'll recieve a message telling you that he's destroyed the place. You'll then get your rep (depending on how much damage you dealt and how many skeletons you defeated), but no bonus for saving the town.

I'm not sure how often invasions happen, but for me they are usually announced at 8PM (BST). I think that's the earliest they can happen. I might be wrong, but that would be about 12PM PST, and 3PM EST. I think they then start happening throughout the day. As I'm British, I'm not sure how late they go. I know that they happen at least a few times per week. Sometimes, for Friday the 13th events and Halloween, invasions are increased, which means quite a few invasions each day, and earlier too.

one more question. what do the xs on the map mean after the invasion?

If by xs, you mean X's, I believe those are barricades that have been destroyed by Jolly Roger and friends. If they occur after the invasion, it might be a bug or glitch where they remain even after the invasion. Hope that's what you were referring to.

where does jolly appear when he tries to get to the goveners mansion?

He always appears just to the south of the main docks in Port Royal, on the beach closest to Fort Dundee in Padres del Fuego, and by the main docks in Tortuga.

Invasion times are random, initiated by the people who manage POTCO. They are more frequent on the weekends. I think we went almost two weeks without an invasion once. Lately we seem to be getting two or three invasions a day even on weekdays; I think this has to do with the increased pirate population of POTCO. Their location seems to be random; I've seen PdF invaded three times in a row, or each location invaded once in a day.

Invasions are always announced on the hour and happen on the half-hour. They usually take place at 6:30, 10:30, 11:30, 12:30 and 01:30 GMT, with the most common being 6:30, 11:30 and 01:30.

The invasions seem to be based on the strength of the number and level of the pirates defending. I once defended solo on a quiet server against an invasion. There were three brigades of undead with about a dozen in each wave, and I managed to take out JR by myself (after coming out of jail twice.) I've seen the end of small invasions in quieter servers, then hopped to popular servers where it's only just begun.

As a matter of interest, you get Rep points for reviving someone who has been knocked out in an invasion. If you're low-level, hang well back from JR and revive people, and you will be rewarded. I like to keep my dollie handy and immediately heal those I have revived so that they're not at close-to-zero hit points.

Get behind Jolly Roger, use a ranged weapon like musket, aimed pistol or staff, and stay just out of the range of his spells, and you'll get good rep when you attack and finally defeat him (with the help of others.)
