"how to" with ships
Can anyone set me straight with the ship battles. My quest is to get Althea from an EITC ship that I have to board.
How is it after you've fired on a ship and the red bar has gone does it sink sometimes yet other times your asked to shoot the grappling hooks with a chance to board??? It's really bugging me lol. I've been stuck on this part of the quest for ages. Perhaps I could do with a few gunners to help me. Any takers??? |

Alright here it is...Ships with Flags above them are called flagships and they are the ships that you can board. To do this you have to shoot them until the red bar is gone, grapple onto the ship and click the board button and what do you know, You've boarded the ship!
For ships without flags you destroy them right as their health bar is gone as they are not board able. Once you have boarded the ship you fight and kill all the troops on board the ship so it sinks and you are returned to your ship. SSS |

I have been stuck on this task a week now. Its so aggravating. I am to the point of wondering if its worth purchasing the game if quests are going to be this annoying. I have boarded several EITC flagships alone only to die in battle against the level 30 and 20something crew on the ship. The game allows you to kill the lowest one with the cannon but the other 2 hide inside the ship until you board. I have also gone with a full crew only to die or be disconnected. I know this is probably a very achievable quest but for me it seems impossible. Also, I just cant handle being on a full crew in the busy world-the lag is so bad I can hardly move.
My husband isnt too thrilled I want to buy another online game anyway-so maybe this is my clue this isnt for me. Arrrrgh!! |

Wow, do you think only half your crew boarding was a bug or what Disney intended? Im wondering if they will tweak the way it works now to make it more doable. I realize Pirates is meant to be more of a challenge than Toontown but this quest is so early in the storyline. At the very least, they should increase the number of EITC flagships to be the same as the Navy flagships.

I think it's a bug. I've been left behind on ships before also. Most of the time, it seems the whole crew boards. It would be nice if there was an option to leave certain people behind.

I too am stuck on this task and rapidly loosing interest. In a week of sailing I have managed to find one EITC Flag ship and be the "one" that fires the final shot that disables the ship.
Yes, as I have been told by players that seem to be more experienced than myself at this game, you must be the one that fires the final shot that disables the ship. If you are fortunate enough to do that then you should get the rings and the grapples will hold and you can board. Then you can die against the three or four level 20 and 30 something grunts. As I said I only have been able to find one flag ship to beat and board and I was alone sp you can imagine how long I lasted.

Sometimes it's better to go to a quiet world with your crew when looking for flagships. You don't have to compete with others for that ship. The EITC flagships I find are usually around Padres, but they are higher level.
I have noticed from the ships I've boarded the last few days, that the Navy ships have lower level crew and the EITC has the higher level crew. But again, that's just my experience and may not be others. I do hope they make some more changes to this boarding process. The changes they did make on the 12th really kinda stinks

I've noticed since the last update there've been no flagships. I hope this is temporary and they're not removing them permanently.

Try sinking an EITC ship now for the Althea quest. As of this weekend it seems they changed that quest and you no longer have to board the EITC ship to capture Althea. I was stuck for so long and then all of the sudden my quest description changed from board to just sink and EITC and I did it and the first one I sank I captured Althea and moved on.
Good luck

They seem to fix Althea quest but not for capturing Luther
from Navy ship in the Nine Rogues quest. I already sank a lot of Navy ships and no Luther. |
