ship help
Can anyone give me a few pointers regarding ships.
I wonder why sometimes when you've blown the ship to smithereens and the red bar has gone but the ship is still there with the counter at zero. Why hasn't it sunk??? Also I have a galleon at the moment which seems to sail at the pace of a snail!! Is that just because its a bigger ship?? (even with full sail it seems slow) And do the broadside cannons upgrade themselves the more you use them?? And lastly, I've bought some chain shot cannon balls before but I can't think for the life of me where I got them from as I've run out and need some more. |

Ok quick rundown of ships
Sloops = fast with good manoeuvring Galleon = fat and slow with big cargo holds Frigate = well armored lots of guns You can upgrade broadside with skill points from sailing skill and you buy different cannon ammo from gunsmith. Edit:Those ships that don't sink are probably flagships you need to board them and you can only do that if you deal the final blow.

You buy cannon ammo from pistol shops.
And yes ships that have a flag over their name are flagships and when you take out their health a timer starts in which time you have to board that ship. To board a ship look for green circle markers on the side of the enemy ship and go to one of the deck cannons and click on (or hit 8) the grappling ammo and fire at the green circles. When you've connected enough it gives you the option to board the enemy ship. If you notice the enemies on the ship are to high a level for you you can fire your deck cannon at them to kill some off. They will respawn though if you take to long. After you've boarded and killed them all it will sink. And you have to board, even if you've killed them all with the cannon you still have to click board for it to work.

Every time you Level-Up, you need to check what you can u-grade for it... You get one each Level-Up- you can't save them if you forget to up-grade.
Mouse over blank spots on the menu to get an idea what up-grade un-locks at what Level... For Sail, there are only a few things you can do until level 5... From 5 to 10 you have to plan-out what you want the strongest. Gun Shop, Black Smith, and Gypsys all have little sub menus at the top left- very easy to miss. Work your Cannon skills up to about Level 5 and you should have enough gold to have a few ships... I have 2 for sailing (that part of the game seems to be getting a little faster), but if I forget to repair a ship on my way out of jail... I still have one- most of the time... When I first got on I would aim the ship, press shift+R, then go do other stuff... The auto aim for cannons seems a little more fair, but I don't think we will ever get to sail across the game as fast as the Navy does...

Im level 10 in sailing, and have unlocked the "full sail" for speed, the quick- turnabout thing and "open fire" command. Should I have only chosen 1 or 2 of those to upgrade? Can you give me some ideas on how to plan? How do you auto aim cannons? That would sure help when I'm lagging...
