aiming with a MAC
so heres my issue.....my fiance uses a MAC and she cannot aim properly due to not being able to right click....since there is no right click.
the answer we have seen time and time again is to hit control which acts as a right click....well control for her is the same as myself being a PC user...control fires the current weapon. I sent disney a question regarding this and their response was..."go buy a MAC compatable mouse" which btw....run around $50....good work disney...something doesnt work...tell the customer to go buy something else! so...PLEASE anyone out there have any clue how to aim properly with a mac? thanks all... "take whatever you can...give nothing back, a pirates life for me...HUZZAH" |

If I'm reading this correctly, your using a Mac Mouse and ye can't move the camera view to aim
correctly since you cant right click and left click at the same time aye? I had this same issue myself. What I do is use a relatively inexpensive Dell Mouse from my old PC that works. I'm pretty sure almost any mouse you hook up to your computer via USB should work. The mouse I use is a couple years old but it works like a charm. I use the Dell 0W1668 Mouse PS/2, but I'm sure there are others out there... You don't have to spend a fortune on a new one, but to solve your issue.. you will have to buy another. Unfortunately all Disney can do is recommend buying another mouse since its not their program that is the problem, its just the design of your mac mouse. Hope that helps!

I just bought an optical mouse, logitech as a backup mouse for my PCs (im a computer geek with several computers). Having read PG09s post, it made me curious, so I studied the box the mouse comes in.
It is a USB mouse certified for windows vista, and oh yeah.. "X" macintosh, Isnt that OS 10 or something like that? I would say just about any USB mouse would be compatible as PG09 mentioned. Just thought id add a supportive note in that regard. |

This confused the heck out of me for a while - I've used a Mac laptop for years (with a generic mouse) but just recently started using a desktop here and there. I believe there is a way to enable right clicks on your Apple mouse. Try going to System Preferences and select Keyboard & Mouse. Click the Mouse tab at the top. There should be 2 drop down boxes, one by each side of the mouse. Click the right drop down and select Secondary Button instead of Primary Button. This should make it so clicking the right side of the mouse (where a right click button would be on a generic mouse) performs the right click function.
I hope this works/helps. From my experience the Disney people are 10,000% Mac illiterate. I have asked a couple questions before and gotten ridiculous answers like the one you got. I have quite the list of gripes about Disney's handling of Mac players. Last edited by jason davy; 11-05-2009 at 05:40 AM.. |

The expert on Mac as spoken. That is exactly what I did. I had a backup mouse just in case. But I still use arrows to point them cannons.

If you don't have the Mighty Mouse that shipped with the newer aluminum iMacs, then that doesn't work.
My old iMac G5 mouse wouldn't do that either. In most cases, pressing Controll and holding down the mouse button works as a right click on that type of mouse. But if I remember correctly, when I tried to aim on the old iMac with that technique, it didn't work either. In which case, your only option would be to get that "Mac compatible mouse" that the Disney person told you about. CS~ |

I've been using arrow keys on my Lappie since day one. I suppose if I used a Mouse my aim would be more accurate.
Has anyone tried the New wireless Mac Mighty Mouse yet??? If so, how do you think it would fair on a Macbook??? |

Related issue
I have an iMac as a second computer and bought a 'standard' mouse since that is what I am so use to. I too have trouble when it comes to aiming, but also when it comes to just moving the camera view around.
I use the mouse a lot when it comes to moving my camera view around and aiming my cannons. It just seems that a right click and hold to move the camera or cannon is smoother and more accurate. On my windows machine, when I do this, my camera view does not move until I move the mouse. But on my iMac, where ever I have the arrow pointing when I click, the camera view jumps to that direction. Have gotten use to this issue, but is there some setting I can change to eliminate that. And while we are talking iMac's, does everyone have the issue with dark contrast. Have tried lighten up my screen as far as it will go, but still a lot darker than my windows machine. Thanks for any help and/or ideas. Capt C Ray |

Yep, it's gotten a lot darker since the updates. Don't know if or how you can fix it because I haven't tried. But it's not just you.
