Mastered All Weapons (Moved)
On my alternate account, I have mastered all weapons and am still level 38. This is due to the fact that I have not done any of the Black Pearl Quest. It has occurred to me that maybe mastering all weapons should be enough to gain level forty. It is "completing the game". The Pearl is just to get leadership so no questing should be necessary.
Discuss, also, sorry if this is the wrong section. Last edited by Basil Dreadflint; 06-29-2009 at 01:12 AM.. Reason: Moved from weapons to General Game Talk |

James,
I moved your thread to General Game Talk. Also, I did reach level 40 without doing the Pearl Quest on one pirate. I did it without any glitching, or without a ton of help. This meant that I killed an awful lot of enemies and sank a lot of ships. Apparently, I got a lot of bonuses and treasure drops. See this thread if you would like some of the details. http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...ead.php?t=7744

Basil,
Did you do the weapons upgrade quests? All the teleport quests? (assuming you did, it would be hard getting around otherwise). Clothing or Tattoo quests? Theres also the Skeleton Infestation quest, and the SvS quests. Regarding the OP, I would suggest from a certain standpoint, you havent gone through the game main story line, and havent finished your Boss battle, so you havent 'really' completed it. As for wether the weapons should all add up to at least level 40, the notoriety points have to come in somewhere, they cant just be bonus's. |

If you can get to level forty with all mastered weapons then I can only imagine how high the level cap should 'really' be.

To paraphrase the other thread.
I stopped doing ANY Pearl Quest right when I met Gibbs the first time. I had to meet Jack, cause other quests make you do so. I did all the side quests, Teleport, Tats, Jewelry, Weapons, Clothing, Skeleton infestation, as soon as they opened up. I DID NOT do the SvS quests at all. (I don't SvS) I had a minimum of help. Crews for bonus, Healers for the hardest stuff, but I did as much as I could without help. (Like Nades quest, did that totally solo.) If you add up all the scores for the weapons and skills, you get 56,600 per weapon. Counting Sail and Cannon, that's 8, times the total = 452, 800. Adding all the notoriety levels gets you 540,150. Subtracting the weapons from the notoriety, leaves 89,350. If you earned nothing but rep for the skills, it would leave you 89,350 short of level 40. It isn't possible to master the weapons without earning some gratis rep, but if you could, it would bring you to high level 37 Notoriety. With the rep you get from the NPC's, you get to high 38 or low 39, depending. I got enough from bonus and treasure drops, that I actually hit level 40 Notoriety before I fully Mastered all weapons. And there was one double rep weekend event while I did it. (Some were mastered, some were high level 24.) Now I know at least one other person who has tried to do this, and she did NOT get to level 40 when she mastered all weapons. Mid 39 is where she stopped. She didn't kill near as many enemies as I did, more than 3K less, so she fell short. Figure that you get an extra 25 rep from every 15 or so enemies you defeat, and it does add up.

In order to complete the game, doesn't it require you to actually participate in a few of the game-play elements? I know that strategy is at a minimum in this game and completing the story is honestly sometimes just about how many times you mash the mouse button but if you aren't doing the storyline, you aren't "playing the game." Seriously, if you want to mindlessly run around just killing stuff without a story, go get a copy of Postal. But if you want to finish the game... start the story, do all the side quests, recover the Pearl... After all, it's "Pirates Of The Caribbean"...Not "Pirates with Mastered Weapons"... |

To each their own. I hit 40 on my first pirate by going through the pearl quest, and doing the few side quests that were available at the time. By the time you reached the end of the storyline and were ready to take down the pearl back then, you were at lev 23-26 nort with lev 10-15-ish weapons though. Nothing left to do but grind away....
So on the next few of pirates, I ignored the story line all together. I leveled weapons first, then started the story line. I still have the BB left on two. Now I do a combo of both leveling and questing. It's not "mindlessly running around killing stuff", it's just playing the game differently. The game doesn't "require" you to do anything in a particular order. Play it the way you want, have fun, mix it up a little. I know of one pirate who, just for fun, tried to see how close to 40 he could get by ONLY using Cutlass and doing weapons and TP quests. He got pretty close, and it was a fun experiment. |

I mastered all weapons/skills at 38 3/4, with only the weapon (and TP, of course) quests done. This after doing the side quests: ![]() With some of the recent quests, I'm now only a few thousand rep from 40...
