Lets make some use of those "collectables" shall we?

There's been quite a few threads asking about what the "collectables", or treasures, are used for. Why should they be used only for collecting? Why can't we make some use of them so they benefit us players?

I think if we could use collectables in ways other than collecting, we should be able to use them to decorate or enhance our weapons. Some games make it so that if you find or receive things from quests you can use them to help build your character. Why can't we use our jewels, like the ruby, to upgrade our weapons in different ways or even decorate them? Imagine thousands of ways to decorate all of your weapons or upgrade them with these "collectables". I think it would really make the game a lot more fun when it comes to fighting enemies and receiving things from them.

They do benefit players. You get 25 rep for each treasure you get from an enemy. It is possible to level on treasures, I heard of someone in Dueces Wild that leveled to the late 20's before ever getting unlimited.

Yeah, but we need them to me more useful than just leveling up our pirates. I'd like to see them become a big part of the game instead of just "rep treasures".

true, true. i think i like the idea of finding treasures, and like armor in other game, they can upgrade our health or attack power/ranged damage etc... Also they could be a pretty addition to our weapons. A little ruby on the handle of my cutlass (fancy) lol

The chess pieces I've seen on the wiki should also be used.
Perhaps if you have a full collection you would be able to play chess against others?

I like your idea of using some treasures to decorate weapons. You could also trade them with other players for more treasure or some gold. If there were houses, we could use the Nine Rogues to decorate our house.

I believe Runescape lets you use some elements to upgrade armor. Since we're pirates I think we should be able to use them to upgrade our cannons and their amo. I'd just like to see more of a trade system in the game which allows better use of the things we receive from enemies.

The teeth should unlock a quest, having revealed the treasure initially mentioned to be somewhere in the Caribbean. I dunno about the others, though the Rhineworth Rings could have plenty of value, as I do remember some curse being mentioned when you unlock them.
