They were both very different. So I wouldn't be able to pick. And also because I just liked them both so much!
The first movie was less fighting because they had to introduce the characters. So MAYBE slightly I like the 2nd more. Only because I love fighting.

The second one was much more creative and well-thought out. I mean just look:
sword fights on giant rolling windmills shipmates captured and put in giant rolling balls that end up rolling down a hill Jack tied to the stick trying to get out with the shish-ka-cob (sp?) part The game they played with the dice Graphics much improved Many more characters |

So many reasons to love both movies (the first being the original, which makes it the best), but I really think that the prevailing movie was the 2nd.
I think that Johnny was probably given more creative freedom, considering how well the first one did, and I think it really shows in the movie. |

I think that the first movie was kinda like an introduction to the world of the Pirated Carribean.
The second movie explores that world.

I can't even remember the first one, and I watched the second one about 5 times on the plane home from WDW.
I remember the second was best though.  I wonder what happens next.. "Would you be willing to go to lands end to rescue Captain Jack Sparrow?" He was in a Krakens mouth last time I heard! LOL.
