Its that time of the year again... I think I'll give the exact response to a near identical thread in a few months.

I can understand why the Kraken would take so long but they promised him by the end of 2009 and he never came. They never should have made the promise in the first place if they couldn't release him. Last time we saw the Kraken, his model was completely done. I think the developers forgot to mention that the Kraken itself would most likely be a boss battle to a second story quest. If we're going to have a second story quest, we're going to need a few new islands(along with new enemies), new ship enemies, and more unique gameplay aspects. While the Kraken could be done, the second story quest could probably take even longer. I'm not worried about how long it takes to release the Kraken, as long as he does eventually come out. |

As much as I'd love to reiterate all the fantastic points made on this thread, I think I'll just go with "No thanks. It's a waste of my time."

I heard someone say that the Kraken was in the before release testing. So,... put that with the Kraken stuff in the phase files. They obviously took it out (maybe because it made the game not as good? Or bugs?). When people assume that they see parts of an upcoming Kraken in the phase files, they might really just be seeing old files from before the game was released. oh.. and I agree with TSC... Bring out a second chapter!

I just came back after 2 years and there have been changes. However....with all the hype that Disney had going right before I left truly I expected more.
What was all that fluff when the seas turned green and the game was talking about strange sea creatures?? You can read the official Disney web site today and still see comments in the developers section about features that never materialized. I obviously came back as I enjoy the game regardless. It does get frustrating when you see things in test phase that just seem to get locked up in a chest and dumped overboard. As others have mentioned....many of these things have been talked about for YEARS....not months. I suppose we take the good with the bad and continue to submit feedback.

We need to move on
First, let's make a major correction.
The Kraken was supposed to be out - OVER THREE YEARS AGO, not two. It will FOUR years this winter. If you are pining for the beastie, and have spent four years of subscription money hoping ONLY for that - I'm sorry. The Kraken was supposed to be the end boss of either Chapter 2 or 3 - and there is enough video and screenshot evidence out there to show hints about the follow chapters in our fight against Jolly Roger - including meeting Davy Jones. Those developer interviews were done like 4 years ago. However in the 42 months that have passed, the game's timeline is permanently stuck. It was set between movies 1 and 2. Well, since then - Will is now the captain of the Dutchman and Elizabeth goes off to have his child somewhere. Beckett is dead. Mercer is dead. Davy is dead. Calypso aka Tia has been freed and Barbossa is not only back, but legless and commanding the Queen Anne's Revenge. So, where does the Kraken fit now? Oh, yes - IT'S DEAD! Left in pieces on the shore of some island. We need to move on and so does the game. The only good out is for each chapter to be on a different part of the timeline so at some point - we get beyond the movie plot without undoing the logic. Or lets get away from the movies entirely. But, we need to move forward. Please don't ignore all of the innovations and improvements to this game. And there have been many milestones. Why drag us backwards? |

Seems to me the developers have no plan at all regarding new content as they are just adding small parts that most of us never even thought off. They definitely need to organize themselves and POTCO... |

Many people fail to realize that online games can't be limited by the timeline in order to survive. If the game were stuck in between two movies, why not make a console game? The whole point of online games is being able to play an almost endless amount of content, which means you CAN'T be limited by the storyline. The Kraken has been promised for some time now but we're talking about a huge update. The Kraken would have to come with a second story quest, making way for Davy Jones and more islands.(there are seven more mysterious islands in the phase files) Even the model of Davy Jones sits in the phase files with idle animation. I don't understand why so many people become stubborn about the time line. No one ever said we were "stuck" in between two movies. No one has ever said that, it's a complete assumption made by players because they haven't seen the second story quest. Also, with the addition of Raven Cove's, we see the potential of making NPCs disappear when we "kill" them. Why hasn't will disappeared if he's the captain of the Flying Dutchman? He still sits in a warehouse where you can talk to him. We are NOT stuck in between movies but we ARE stuck in a phase of no new story quest. |

MacIronhawk,
The game is set between movies one and two - stricly based on the characters and what has or has not happened. The Governor is alive and Will and Elizabeth are not married yet. Davy is alive, etc. etc.. - its just logic. I never said someone else said that. And we can all acknowledge that the game was supposed to be used to promote the 2nd film but it was delayed and came out too late. |

No intelligent company would specifically limit their time line for an online game. It's like telling them the game is going to have an ending. Online games usually don't have endings, they go on forever in storyline. |

Here are the screenshots folks have talked about. They are VERY old. And I'm wondering how real there were any more.
![]() ![]() You can tell by the play screen that they are very very early. But the player is clearly fight off the tentacles. In the second shot, they've been plucked off the deck and are being flung about. |

They were planning on it, but they never got it working properly. Thats why they released call of the kraken, because that kraken is basicly what they designed. The kraken is gone, out the window, poof.... They are now working on new things, and thats that.... |
