Just a response to the cuba ships, yes they definitely pay well but I see many players just attempting to sink the ships. I highly recommend shooting down at least two masts first, and then attempt sinking the ship. This will give you maximum cannon reputation points which is 100. If you sink the ship immediately you will get a much lower cannon reputation points, so make sure you bring down those masts first.

Yes, When going along side other ships and shooting your broadside cannons they shoot directly straight up into the air. If you don't sink the enemy ship too quickly you may see the cannon balls come down a few minutes later, quite funny actually. Attempt using your broadside cannons from a distance. I have a galleon ship and have noticed when the enemy ships first get into view I have to turn my ship to the side and use the broadside cannons. The cannon balls get launched extremely far so timing has to be down quite a bit on these now. Hopefully this is not a permanent fix, and hopefully you will be able to go along side other ships once again and use the broadside cannons...

Actually I get 110 cannon points for taking out sails and masts first on the ghost ships.
