how to do a little easter egg glich (sail with masts closed)

i actually like this glitch...makes it just a tad easier to shoot for the masts.

wish i could figure out why the opponets ships health icon won't show up ALL the time. My guess is bug because i can still sink 'em but it is a bit annoying.
