I use fury. I am not trying to "glitch" or unfairly "lag" my opponent to death...really. I'm just using the strongest weapon in my personal arsenal. Isn't that why I built my cannons in the first place?? Why take that away? Half the time I lag myself with it, so I'm not seeing how this is an unfair advantage.

As for the ability to take either side...once again...I see this as useful, not harmful. I like the ability to be with a friend, regardless of side, and to change sides when suddenly the side I'm on outnumbers the other side 7-2.

And spys... well, my own husband has, on more than one occasion, left my ship, launched his own on the other side, and come after me becasue he wanted the high bounty. I've sunk him... and I've been sunk by him. lol

We call that fun here.
OK, perhaps I should clarify what I meant by those two sentence fragments, then.

I see FURY (and thunder) as wildly unfair advantages (cheats) because they cause a network storm to the victim but NOT the aggressor. The shrapnel or whatever is causing it, is quite simply a BUG that needs to be fixed OR ELSE the ability to use special ammo should be removed (since they probably can't ever get it to work fairly.) As it is now, the winner of a war ship vs. war ship battle is the ship that lands the first shot...not the ship that is driven better or has a better crew. Once the first shot hits, the victim ship people are slowed by the extra network packets that the aggressors don't seem to have to process. Why that is manifest only with thunder and fury, remains a mystery.

The spy/espionage thing - yeah, I particularly hate it but understand that many people (yourself included) may find it to be a lot of fun. If there were some way to dictate WHO is allowed to take the wheel, I guess I would have no genuine complaint against the spying/side-switching. (Still wouldn't LIKE it myself, but meh.) On the other hand, I really would like a way to make someone walk the plank, when caught as a spy. (Be nice to see them eaten by sharks. And send the to jail on a different server!) That would be a nice feature to have in regular game-play too.

I would have to disagree with that statement. Coming from the person with perhaps the worst comp set-up and horrid lag stemming from anything such as running through the town, sailing, being shot at, fighting, swinging on a rope, etc. etc. I have personally found that I can successfully manuever my ship and take down enemy War Ships as long as they're not using any cheap glitches (i.e. auto-fix/invincibility). Maybe I don't actually lag as much as others during SvS because my graphics are turned all the way down, so the 'shrapnel' and stuff never even shows up. The FIRE is the only thing that gets me...that DANGED FIRE...I HATE IT. Once it starts, my comp can't catch up, no matter how long I stand still and wait for it. It just starts lagging around until I completely close out of Pirates...and sometime even reboot.

I find no unusual issues from being hit by lightning/fury than the normal lag I receive when a NPC hits me. I just can't stand the invicibility...AT LEAST let me see the other ships health meter so I KNOW it's not going down. IT'S A HEALTH METER!!! HOW HARD IS THAT DISNEY!!!!!! The simplist of things and it doesn't even work right for me.

I don't know...I've been hit by fury, and still mananged to sink the other ship.

LOL!! nice I would have loved to have done this to my husband when he called his (new) fleet out after me while I was sinking his ship.

But really, I get that real spys can be a serious pain. A way to kick them off is a necessity.

Yes! That has been annoying, even in regular sailing. I can't even tell if I've hit a ship, let alone if its barely scratched or almost dead. This needs to be fixed. Bad.
