about friends thing in game

What exactly does it mean if the name is blacked out on the friends list? I've been seeing this and can't figure it out.

I means they're not currently online

actually I just found out that the 'black out' means they are banned. The red/green light on their name lets you know if they are online or not.

Now I have to wait for this person to be unbanned in order to sail on my ship again. Bah!

Hmm, I didn't know that.

I thought if the name was darkened they were off line.
