Graphics cards are the chips in your computer dedicated to visual processing and output, including dedicated memory (ram). Sometimes built into the motherboard, but usually an insertable "card" that plugs into your motherboard (look at the place where you monitor connects to your computer). The chipsets on a card can be customized for different uses--gaming, playing & editing video, etc.
