P.S.....Another historic fact...The soles of shoes and boots in the time were flat leather, and had very little traction....Don't think I'd want to be in either on any wet or somewhat slick surface... Might end up in the drink!

I agree entirely. Only officers wore footwear on a ship. When you're climbing ratlines or walking out along a yardarm 140 feet above the deck, you want to be barefoot.
They did spread sand around the deck during a fight. It stops you from slipping in the blood. How's that for your historic perspective. I wear boots when I'm in the grottos, but I sure would like to get some nice pumps for in town. Crimson Rose. |
