no?
why not? you know just as much about me as you do those people willing and able to take this same info and give you some in game gold in exchange or that leveled up toon. They turn around and use your CC info to buy accounts in this and other games to farm more gold with. When you find an extra charge on your card you report it. So the game company then has to pay fines and fees and reverse charges. Using paypal may keep your CC safe but if you bought a leveled up avatar guess what? they know the log info no matter what they tell you. Most games will give control back to the orignal creater of that account, not you.
They could at a moments notice, take it back from you. Wipe out your in game items, your guild bank, ( if you game has one) then toss it back to you. Leaving you holding the bag.

In the mean time you are feeding the jackals out there. If people like you continue to feel that this is harming no one, except those who do not wish or can't afford to spend money on in game coin or avatars, your very wrong.

it is costing the gaming company tens of thousand of dollars in reverse charges and lost gaming revenue for accounts they have to cancel. It is costing your credit card companies as well.

when you annual fees for your credit cards go up or the monthy costs of your games go up, who's to blame?

the in game farming of gold and buying of pre leveled up toons is a very bad cycle.
it will only continue if people feel it is harming no one.

it hurts everyone else playing the game and you as well. if you have ever played a game where they run rampent you would understand. They own the game, not the players. There is no mob or item that is safe, they get it first and for cash will sell it to you. Getting lovely spam messages like this " yes, yes, you buy coin, you get pretty item, good armor weloveyoulongtime".
Honestly its a nightmare.

also I sorry if this sounded like a slam on you, it wasn't meant to be, so please do not take it that way. It does concern me when people in general feel that gold farmers cause no harm. I forgot to mention the keystroke programs most have embedded on their sites that they sneak onto anyone's system they can.

I could see Disney doing some sort of external exchange type service. That might work, but again, if real money exchanges hands I would worry.

Thumbs down

"would you give me the number of your credit card? your bank account number?"

Not to you. only a moron gives out cc info to an individual. lol thats what paypal is for.

" They turn around and use your CC info to buy accounts in this and other games to farm more gold with. "

INCORRECT! Paypal and other similar credit card processing systems never reveal card info to the sellers!

"it is costing the gaming company tens of thousand of dollars in reverse charges and lost gaming revenue for accounts they have to cancel. It is costing your credit card companies as well. "

Really what are your sources for this info? lol you have just named some figures off the top of your head.

I can sell one of my higher my chars right now on ebay and make some quick cash. Fighting against trade is pointless. I constantly sell unlimited accounts for 40k in gold. Does that make me a bad person? lol

"it hurts everyone else playing the game and you as well."

It doesn't hurt me one bit. I like being able to buy anything i want.

Ok , well how does that mean they own the game? Thats no worse than a hundred random friend invites from lvl 1 noobs.

why would you worry? because perhaps you aren't wealthy and dont want some rich kid to have what you can't?
That's just part of life.

Not everyone uses paypal or knows how to use it.

what wiki says
Next gen

A CES interview with SOE CEO John Smedley (pt. 2)

"John Smedley: I think the issue of farming is higher on the radar now than it ever has been. The behinds the scenes things are really frustration. A lot of these farmers are essentially stealing from us. What they do is they charge us back all the time. They use a credit card –sometimes stolen, sometimes not – to buy an account key. They use the account for a month, and then they call the credit card company and charge it back. We have suffered nearly a million dollars just in fines over the past six months; it's getting extremely expensive for us. What's happening is that when they do this all the time, the credit card companies come back to us and say "You have a higher than normal chargeback rate, therefore we'll charge you fines on top of that." We're really trying to get on top of that. We're taking our current efforts up about five notches to Defcon 1 on this issue. They bug us even more than they bug our customers, and we're definitely taking steps to implement rigorous anti-farming efforts."

there is more if you want to read plenty of links at the bottom of the wiki link

no it doesn't, and in all honestly I am not fighting against trade it self, I am fight against the current systems of trade that most mmog use which bring in gold farmers.

"it hurts everyone else playing the game and you as well."

I don't want what the "rich kid" can buy, ruins the whole point of the game buying your way to the top and having no clue how to play the class. ( granted PoTCO is simple enough to slip into a higher end toon and play) But it is because of people wanting to buy their way to the top instead of playing the game and earning it which has created this huge market for instant gold, items and high level toons. A market that has drawn the gold farmers in droves.

So I will say again IF they could create some sort of exchange program, one that they run and control, where they can track the creation of coin, and toons, then maybe, but as soon as real money is mixed in it draws the farmers in. If you truly can not see the major problems the game industry is currently having because of these farmers. Then you really need to get out and read more.
