What I would like to see is something similiar to the Knock Out system at sea.

I think that when a ship is sunk, you see your pirate floating in the water with a timer above their head. They can swim around in a set area if theey wanted to. If you go to rescue somebody, you need to sail close up to them until a message pops up "Press Shift To Rescue". You will then see the pirates standing by the railing chucking hooks into the water with a countdown at bottom to show how long to go before finished rescueing. After rescueing them, the captain of the ship can decide if they stay aboard the ship or go to land. it doesnt matter if ship is full. If they stay they wont be able to use anything aboard the ship. They also wont get any loot until they dock, the recued pirates can chose when to go back home at anytime. If the Captain says they go they load at their port of call. Rescued pirate's ships will be half price to repair and they wont be groggy.

They should also have a reward system for revivers and rescuers. Maybe like a badge system to show who revives and rescue alot of people. Everytime you revive somenody you can get "+50 Gold".
