Yes, but other factors come into play as well.
Generally, the light sloop is the fastest ship in the game, with the war galleon being the slowest. Here they are in order, from my own testing...I do not pretend to be some sort of expert.... light sloop sloop light frigate war sloop frigate light galleon war frigate galleon war galleon That is from testing with other players, all at the same speed level. Now, that said, many things can effect speed of course. There are a few talents that increase speed, as im sure you well know. Generally, if you want to go fast, stick to sloops. I go out solo in a sloop and do well for myself, avoiding most if not all damage by menuvering. Cargo is low, but the overall payout solo is the highest. For a large crew and plunder, I suggest a galleon. Very slow, but not so bad with a full crew...you can usually put down an enemy ship before they can damage you too much. Has the highest armor and the biggest hold. If you have a smallish crew and are grinding for Exp, then the Frigates are your best bet. Good deck gun coverage, largest broadsides, otherwise balanced. My ships are a sloop and a frigate...i use the frigate when I want some plunder and have a crew. |
