At first, I didn't understand poker either. On the main pirates online website,
there is a guide that will help you. Click on that and then find parlor games, and there you'll see poker along with blackjack. That should help! good luck!

Actually I know this stuff from rl things(i've played poker since I was young) And Fold means to Give Up(just the round) Check means to not bet, but keep going.

Try the Wiki as suggested above.
This is one of the reasons having card games like Hold'em and Blackjack is a bad idea. Disney is forcing people, kids no doubt, to learn how to gamble, and then to sit down and gamble. They must be planning on openeing up a casino and are preparing a generation of cannon fodder. Last edited by Ducky Wucky; 02-27-2008 at 09:46 PM.. Reason: Advertisement |

I agree, although I like card games and gambling, I don't think it should be forced on anyone, or made a part of the epic Black Pearl quest.

What's a pirate that doesn't gamble? It's a part of their livelyhood. Another way to brag. It's a game of skill and cunning within a hack/slash. It's not like children are kept away from gambling with all the tv shows, commercials and free-play internet sites.
Basic Rundown of Hold'em Poker if you don't care to check out Wiki: ~Your looking to form the BEST 5 Card hand possible out of the 7 cards you see on the table.
Hands are shown below from weakest to strongest
THE TURNS
WHAT YOUR OPTIONS MEAN WHEN IT'S YOUR TURN CHECK = you are not betting any additional money that round but would like to stay in to see another card CALL = another player has already placed a bet this round and to continue to play that hand, you must put money in..."check" is not an option at this point BET/RAISE = you like the odds of your hand, so bet more money to get a bigger pot (pot is amount of money everyone has bet so far) FOLD = your hand stinks and you don't want to waste money with it |

I dont think it was a wise idea to implement gambling in the quests. Not only for those that dont know how to play, but for those that have a problem. I had to stop playing holdem since it was over runnin my life....now I have to do it in here too lol.

Blackjack is simple best hand to 21 wins. You go over 21 you bust and you lose your money bet. All face cards are worth 10 and the ace is worth 1 or 11. All the players are against the dealer. The dealer must stay at value 17. You start off with 2 cards. From then you have several options.
Hit- Ask the dealer to give you another card. Stay- Stay at the value you have now and move onto the next player. Again, the dealer must stay at 17. Split- If you have 2 of the same value cards, you can split them playing the dealer twice what you bet. From that you can play each one individualy. Good when you have 2 value 10 cards or 2 aces. Double down- Once again you pay the dealer twice what you bet but this time its like hitting. The dealer gives you one card but thats it. You cant make another move and it goes to the next player. Good when your cards add up to 10 or 11. Remember suits dont matter. Also look at the dealers card he has that will give you a hint on what to do. Lets say you have 15 and youre afraid you might bust. Look at the dealers one faced up card. If he has 6 or lower (except ace), I would stay because the dealer must keep hitting until he has 17 or higher. Since theres a good chance that you will get a face card or a 10, the chances of the dealer going to bust is high. Hope this helps. And to anwser youre question, no basic access players cant play poker... at least i dont think. |

The Rabbit's quick guide was good, and the quick summary of hands is too.
