LOTRO is Lord Of The Rings Online. Sort of a WoW knockoff. Shame though, because if WoW had never come out, we'd all think LOTRO is fantastic.
Anyway I played VMK and a little TTO |

I never played any on line game before. The fact that you had to buy a game and then pay to play was not something I could get into. I started out on Pirates as a free member - that lasted 48 hours - I was so hooked. Upgraded and paid for the year sub. I so love this game. It is easy enough for me to keep up with but to me it has enough new things going on to keep it interesting.
I tried to get my son on it but he is bored with it. He plays WOW and City of Heros and City of Villans and doesn't think Pirates has enough. From what I've seen of the others they are too complicated for my old brain to handle. |

Been doing online gaming for over a decade now.
![]() Started playing Gemstone III back in 96. Moved on to The Realm Online in 98 and played that until 2004. Beta tested Everquest and played until release. Never played again after that. ![]() In late 04' I tried Final Fantasy XI Played WoW from late 05 to early 07. Played Eve Online from early 07 to present. ...and now I've found my way here. ![]() -Eloricth |

Also, everything you know about conventional leveling mechanics you can take and throw out the window. You level/gain skills in real-time. In other words, you train a skill, and that skill can take hours, to days, to weeks to learn. The good news is that even when you're not signed in to the game, the skills continue to train. So you can set a long one, go to work, and then come back. You can also pause a skill that's in training to train another skill, and you will still retain all of the time spent training the first skill. The game itself has waaaaay too many features/mechanics to explain in here, but the other really cool thing is that when you start raking in the dough (in-game) you can pay for your game membership with the money from in-game. Meaning you no longer have to pay the $15/month fee. Overall, it's a really fun game -- if you have the patience for it. POTCO is great, to me at least, because of it's simplicity. Simple things like not having to worry about an inventory, or an exponential amount of armor/weapon upgrades, means that you can spend more time playing and less time running to the shopkeep. -Eloricth |

Ultima Online <---Umm...yea...EA ruined it even more...
EverQuest<---Most fond memories EverQuest Online Adventures <---Was a surprise. Ugly graphics but FUN for PS2 console online game! Planetside <---Would have been more fun if there was no lag making this twitch based game unplayable for me Dark Age of Camelot <---Siege warfare was a blast..ugly character models...can't control mounts. Asheron's Call <---Didn't last too long. Asheron's Call II <---100% player driven economy made it interesting but it was closed down last I heard Shadowbane <---Confusing character creation and development but destroying entire cities made it worthwhile Lineage II <---Pretty but full of gold farmers and rude people. Game stability was poor. Guild Wars <---Only limited addictive game play but stunning graphics Final Fantasy XI<---Biggest disappointment due to personal FF loyalty City of Heroes/Villains <---Character creation was the funnest part EvE Online <---Felt like I was logging into work Flyff <---Free (mostly) Asian grindfest but cute Mabinogi <---Free (mostly) Asian grindfest but cute World of Warcraft <---Fun but horrible community and auction house charges ruined it for me Anarchy Online <--still active and devoted Age of Conan <---WTB beta plz! Waiting not so patiently for the release Earth & Beyond <---Wish I played this...hope it comes back soon! I'm sure I missed a few but it's getting late. Don't be a loser geek like me, kids! Quote:
If you like the teamwork of sailing ships with your crew you will miss it in EvE. One person to each ship. I for one love the participation of sinking the Navy together on the same ship. I however I still feel like EvE Online was more work than play. Perhaps because I started out as a devoted miner. Typically read books at my desk as my ship hauled in the ores. I've played toontown for over a year, and then found pirates... I love the charm of the toons, besides it is safe for my kids to hop on anytime. I enjoy pirates because for all the controls (big brother Disney anyone?) it is more adult than toontown. I seem to be levelling fairly quickly, but need to work on my weapons most definitely... I absolutely enjoy these more social games vs. standard "games" for say wii or PC.
Arrrrrrgh!

Started with Dragonrealms and Alliance of Hero's, played those for five years approximately. Then switched to Haelrahv and Eaxia for another three years. All text based games, this is my first time with an online graphic game. Tried EQ couldn't stand it but POTC is fun for now. I always am playing more than one game, I get too bored with just one. I'm still playing DragonFable also right now, along with some time management games in BigFish Games.
