Cuba - swamps, all around Tia Dalma.
Cutthroat isle - inside, around the river.
Tortuga - Misty Mire swamp.

VENUS, Fly traps. I believe it's either bugged, or referring to a certain type, because when I defeat " Fly Traps " I get nothing.

I just played Cutthroat isle (not even 30 minutes ago)
and I killed about 8 fly traps and earned points, etc

so the bug might be with you...try logging out and in to reset things?

But I get gold and stuff, It just doesn't say I recover anything.

With that quest it takes a lot of Fly traps in order to recover what you need. I would suggest Misty Mire (entrance on far left side of Tortuga) because they are lower levels than all the other places. Although Cuba (around Tia Dalma) has the most of them.

A Venus Fly Trap and a Fly Trap are the same thing.

You are expecting to receive something when defeating a fly trap?



Like any other "animal" in the game, you get gold and/or points.
but there are no "hidden" treasures (like jewels, cards, etc) with fly traps.

If you are tasked to "defeat X number of fly traps" then you get
"one defeat" for each one you defeat.
There isn't anything else to get.

Unless the task states "recover something from some fly traps" ??
Then you will get whatever you need with each "kill"
if you are tracking the quest, then you will have info shown at the top right of your screen.
And it will indicate how many "things" you have and also when it is complete.

As long as you have a message coming up telling you that it is searching for items, you are fine. Just be patient, it can take a while to recover things here.

Animals in the Caribbean do not give gold, but will drop the occasional treasure. The value of the treasure will add to your gold, but you will not recieve gold for every defeated animal.

I remember a quest to get a bracelet or gold chain I think from a fly trap - the only that worked for me was the one in Misty Mire on Tortuga. If you have to get at item from certain enemies, make sure it says it is seaching for it, then you know you're in the right place. If it doesn't say searching try a different spot.

The fly trap on Tortuga in Misty Mire is in just a little bit - you'll see some torches on the left, it's just past those. If you go past the Brigands and other undead, you went too far in.
