The POTCO Report: Issue 1 Nov 2007

Well, since Disney hasn't made a newsletter for POTCO I thought I would make one for the forums. This first issue is nowhere near a final product, and it will be improbed with your help! Right now all I need to know is how this could be improved. 2-3 More pages will be added onto the next issue anyways, and another one for this may come up soon. I need to know what you all want though. Would you like to see more pages than whats coming? Maybe a game? Whatever you guys want, I'll do if enough people agree. So without further ado, The POTCO Report!

Not sure whats with that line through the discussion topic... Anyways, I have asked permission to use the stuff quoted in the letter (still waiting for permission for PirateAhoy, but I know they won't mind, I mean this is what they're meant for is to help people. If he does though, I will take it down)

Hope you all like this and I plan to keep it up if you do. (Like I said, more pages will come in later issues. This is just the "experimental" issue.)

Suggestions:
More "Up-to-date" stories
Bigger/better font on advice column

PS: I went ahead and put this in general discussion because the main use of this post is so that people can discuss the discussion topic and stories, not to comment on the newsletter. (Comments and advice are always appreciated though! ~.^)
PSS: I doubt anyone would, but if someone feels the urge to ask for this to be stickied, don't. This discussion topic is only for november, and a new post will be made with the december letter in it. ^^

Yeah, looks awesome! Its coming along great. I would like to see monthly or even weekly (if u have the time) newsletters, come out to the forums. If they are all as good as this it would be awesome, If I may suggest just seperate topics like sailing weapons and quests, that will fill up this newsletter quickly. Just whatever is popular at the time you make it. Anyway, this looks awesome, can't wait to hear more in the future. Thanks matey!! YOHO

Thanks guys! I'm going to try to keep this on a monthly level, but I may do
some "Special Editions" and "News Alerts" if it seems appropriate. Also, there's
something I would like to ask some dedicated person to do for me...

...I would love it if someone would write the Parlay Review for me! It needs to be
someone who's made it through most of the game so they can write about
most aspects of the game.

One more thing, and this is something I want your honest opinions on...
Since the next edition should have more pages, what if I had someone do an "Ask Shirley"
type thing? If I did this, it would have to relate directly to the game, and no-one would
know who asked it except for me, since I would recieve all PM's with your questions. Then
"Shirley" would PM me the answer and I would make them into small pieces of parchment and
post them here. What about calling it "Ask Sparrow" maybe? XD

Someone has a lot of time on their hands

Some of it was a little hard to read (at least on my laptop), like the how to take down a Jolly Roger ship.

My other constructive criticism is that, stay updated on your articles Ex. For the buggy Black Pearl quest, they have infact fixed some of it. The ship no longer jumps around, (at least it didn't for me and I completed it two days ago) and you can actually ram the ship now...just not shoot it I believe they released the "non-jumpy" factor on the November 13th release notes

Hehee that "Ask Sparrow" is a brilliant idea though, except a lot of questions are being asked in the forums already. But yea! I think just pick hot topics that seem to get a lot of views and comments and basically a big helpful condensed version in a pretty image.

Newsletters don't really do cartoons do they? Hmm I'm starting to think more newspaper lol.

Just to let anyone planning to ask for an ad, our frontpage ad is already filled! The second page as is still available, but it's not as big. Sorry mate, EERaider already PM'd me for the job. You and him seem to be good buddies though, considering you both run that guild. ^.~ Maybe you all could talk about taking turns?
EDIT: You changed while I posted. I'll think about a tip like thing, but I don't want a whole bunch of people writing for me, or do I? XD
But seriously, I'll think about letting some writers come on the staff to do stories and such.

Edit: okay I finished the puzzle but it was kinda >.> aimed towards a 3rd grader, finding the answers was too..similar. I mean ..yes it was graded as easy :P but maybe mix them up, more sideways more backwards or diagonals. I found this cool website for you That generates wordsearches as well as other puzzles and is relatively easy to do and fill out Check it out!

I thought it would be, It's just that the only generator I found made it to big to fit a lot of words good, thats why I ranked that as easy. I assumed people wouldn't like that one alot, and I planned to hunt a better generator anyways, so thanks!

EDIT: I can't use that at all, I need one that'll let me save it as an image. Ya know, I may just do crosswords instead, their easier to make and fit onto stuff.

Edit: Okay this might be an extra step or two, but what if you created the puzzle, and then took a screen shot of it? Cropping it in paint and therefore making it into an image??
