Do you ever forget that you are talking to real people?

Quite frankly... if someone reads too much into what I say in game in a negative way, I feel its not really my problem. I try and be nice, but if someone reads me wrong because they are hyper sensitive, thats not my issue.

I refuse to tiptoe around people I will likely never meet in real life in fear of being misread.

Now on that note, I NEVER say anything inappropriate, and I keep all my talk game-related.
I don't get into the things I see going on in places like Abassa - I play with my other half, so, we tend to sit back and laugh at some of the drama.

I DO have a few Real Life friends in game - but those people are usually VERY easy to pick out and you usually 'connect' with them easily. (For me, all adult players) We do NOT talk about R/L things IN game. We save it for out of the game, and even there its all family friendly and safe talk. =)

I think its best, in ALL facets of life - to NOT take oneself too seriously.

But... as I said, in a game - I keep it gameplay related, and don't worry about what people think of HOW I word things. I don't get into anything that would even come close to possibly even getting me banned - which I never have been. I like my test server access too much to risk a ban!

I think one of things things to remember is that you never know who you are talking to or their age. Moreover, just because a Pirate is male or female doesn't mean anything. I know several players that have both male and female characters.

Another important thing to keep in mind is you have no idea how much truth is behind what another player is stating unless you know them in real life. Having said that, be careful how much information you share.
