Help defeating Navy Ships
Can someone please give me some tips on defeating a Navy ship? And I don't see their level above their ship like on the previous version. Which are the easiest ones to beat? I need to defeat one for my current quest. Thanks in advance.

I could use some ideas on how to do this as well. I've got to get a copper pipe from a Navy Ship and get to Cuba, but I can't find any lower lvl ships to fight and getting to Cuba is darn near impossible! All the Navy boats blocking the way are lvl 39+ War Ships and all I have is my little lvl 1 sloop. I'm trying to figure out how to complete these tasks with my teeny tiny boat against these massive war ships.

I'm Maggie O'menace - if you see me out there we can gang up on a ship or two and maybe have better luck. Although I can't figure out how to see who's sailing a ship yet, is there a way? Oh, and do we have to board a ship to get the rod or just sink it? I've never boarded so I hope not, I have no clue what to do.

You just have to sink the ship. Thankfully, you don't have to board the ship. If we did, I would still be looking for the rod.

And if you hit the ship a few times, and your ship sinks, if another player sinks that ship, you still get the gold and exp as if you sank the ship yourself.
Happened to me, when I was fighting a EITC ship, hit him a few times, got sunk, then while I was getting out jail, I saw the quests popup saying it was complete and I got some gold. So would be great if more than 1 of you were fighting a navy or eitc ship. |

Theves den is out in the very back of the caves on port royal,, and the best way to sail is with friends,. as long as all the captains are grouped u all get credit for all kills

I always go to where other pirate ships are so that we can all gang up on a ship. Seems to work well for me

To get the coats from Navy Sailors (for Cuba Teleportation, at lvl 12), do you have to board..?
When I launch my ship, I get a timer (top center), for damaged ships (if I see any out there or not)... Is this like a hint for my closest, and best target..? Can I just sail around (forever) looking for a timer that says "Ready to Board"..? Do new ships just pop-up from no-where... or are they sailing round & round in a holding pattern, waiting to go back out..? I get stuck in there, and they don't seem to sink- They sink me in one or two shots....

Ships, attack from behind and stay behind as best as you can.
The levels should be displayed, at least I see them.

I got my coats without boarding. If I recall I sunk 3 or 4 ships before a got them. The ships that have to be boarded are the ones that have a flag above their name. You use your cannons on the ship just like you were going to sink it. When its HP gets to zero instead of sinking it becomes disabled. At that time pull up along the side of the ship that has 4 green circle now showing. Get on a cannon and switch from cannon balls to grappling hooks. Aim at a green circle and fire. Latch on a couple of those and you will see a message at the top of the screen asking if you want to board the ship. Click on it and you will swing over and fight the 3 or 4 gaurds on board. (I like taking a couple out with cannons before I go over). Kill the gaurds and you will automatically be back on your ship. Now sink the ship with a cannon shot and the pluder is yours. A couple notes here, it is wise to look at the level of the guards before boarding. Some are very high, even on a low level ship. It does not pay to even grapple the ship if this is the case, unless your crew is up for the fight. New ships do pop up out of no where to replace others. I have had some misfortune to have some pop up while in combat and sink me. And ships do sail around in a holding type patern as well. It does pay to watch their movements as you approach to give you an idea of a good area to engage. If you need too fire a couple of long cannon shots (with hits) to lure one out of its pattern to come to you and avoid entering an area of ships. Good luck... |

I agree with staying behind the enemy ships. If you can zigzag behind and fire broadsides at their stern they go down quickest and with the least amount of damage to your ship. I have been able to take out level 20-30 ships this way with my little sloop. I've actually found that my regular sloop is slower and less manuverable than my light sloop at this.
I have yet to take over a flagged ship though. No matter how many soldiers I kill with my cannons before boarding, there are always more I couldn't see that gang up on me when I board. I guess I'm going to have to start sailing with a crew.

Boarding Ships.
There are usually 3 soldiers/sailors on deck. Kill 2 with cannons then board to take out the third. Most efficient way. If you kill all 3, 3 more will spawn.
