Boarding time glitches??

Last night we took our new member plundering for his quest for Spanish skelly ships. We got the first one and disabled, grappled it.

We decided to use grape shot to wear the skellies down first, and then I noticed we couldn't board. So we just killed off as many skellies as we could, and the ship just stayed there. I had to sail away from it to get it to sink.

So, we went after another and disabled and grappled it. it was then I noticed that the boarding clock was counting down from 5 seconds!!!!

We had no chance to soften them skellies up. We simply had to board and hack our way through the waves of respawns. We were all lvl 27+ but what a pain!

Has anyone else noticed this or was it just "one of those things"? We finished the quest with immediate boardings, and went out again, but we just sunk ships then to gain rep.
