Why you get caught cheating

The reason the game 'catches' you cheating is that your cheat card is a duplicate of a card in play.

For example, say there are a six of clubs and a six of hearts on the flop and you decide to 'swap' a card in your hand for another six to give you three of a kind.

Now you look into your cheat card collection you see a six of hearts and swap it out.

You win the hand with three of a kind but get caught cheating because there are two six of hearts in play.

Another problem is trying to cheat too early and having your 'cheat' card duplicated in the flop or the river. Even with a great hand you must fold immediately if a duplicate of your cheat card turns up.

Harder to deal with is a duplicate of your cheat card held by another player and thus undetected by you. Say a six of clubs and six of spades come up in the flop and you add the cheat card six of hearts. No problem as they are all different suits. But unbeknownest to you another player holds a six of hearts in their hold cards. Now when you both show your hand you are caught cheating because there are two six of hearts on the table.

So there are definate rules to cheat successfully.

1) Don't swap until at least the Turn card has been laid down.

2) The ideal time to cheat is when only one other player is left and the pot is very large. Filling a flush is the least statistical probability of being in the other players hold cards. Filling a Straight is the second best hand to use a cheat card on.

3) Cheat rarely. The circumstances when it is advantages to cheat are when the pot has been bid up to an enormous amount and there are only 1 or 2 players left in the hand. I only play at high stakes table and if caught cheating the fine is all your winnings since sitting down plus 100g..so my minimum is 100+ gold in the pot if I want to cheat and usually it is 300g+

4) Since you lose ALL you winnings since sitting down in addition to the 100G penality, you should periodically stand up from the table to reset the winnings total. ...or, if it has been awhile, refrain from cheating during a hand until you clear the the table by standing. It is not worth the risk of losing 2000-3000K in winnings for a single hand.

As a note I play poker often and usually win 2000G-3000g at a single sitting. Very rarely do I cheat more than 1-2x during a match. I don't want to waste a cheat card and if I am going to cheat, I am going to make it worth my while by allowing the circumstances to be perfect: ie Huge pot with only 1 or 2 players left in the hand. I look to fill an inside sraight or complete a flush.

Consider the hand you want to make with your cheat card. If there are only two face cards with the flop & turn on the table, and a lot of players are raising each other, odds are someone has three of a kind. Pulling a cheat card to make your own three of a kind carries a high risk of someone holding a matching card in their hand.

I hope these tidbits help and if you see me in Cuba or other high match table, be prepared to play or pray because only skills or direct intervention of your favorite diety will help you.
