input not supported

Hello, my kids were previously playing this game with no troubles, but yesterday after they logged in and updates were installed, after you click "play" the input not supported box is the only thing that is displayed on the screen but we can still hear the game playing in the background. I have an acer aL1706 flat screen monitor and googled "input not supported" and it looks to be a refresh rate problem or vertical sync frequencies that are too high. In general they said the games input frequency is out of range.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!
