Guild Meeting: Minor Reforms and Upcoming Events
Over the summer, since Del announced his resignation, I've been thinking about things I want to change or implement in the guild. Before actually implementing these, however, I'd like to discuss them with the guild over a meeting.
Promotions and Expansion of the Circle of Trust I'm planning on expanding the Officership and the Circle of Trust; the Officership (one Senior Officer and two Officers) is rather small in comparison to the number of Veterans (nine Veterans, five of which are active). The Circle of Trust is rather small as well, with five members... one of which is semi-regularly active. With my recent semi-inactivity due to school, work, and somehow managing to have a social life, I'd like for there to be an active staff to watch over the guild in my absence. I also like to bounce ideas off of people before making a final decision, and that's not exactly possible due to the shortage of staff. So, with the recent wave of demotions will come a wave of promotions. Currently, I'm planning on promoting three Veterans and two Officers. I don't want to promote too many people at once, so the expansion will occur slowly over time. The "Two-Time" Policy Currently, if a member joins, they are allowed to leave and rejoin up to two times, unless they're ejected. Personally, I find a few problems with this: for example, if someone just up and leaves without giving a reason, I don't think we should just let them back in without a second thought. However, if someone gives a reason such as wanting to move to a new guild, we should allow them back in, should they decide to return. Promoting Above Officer if One's Main Pirate Isn't in the Guild I believe this was more of a personal policy of Del's, but it's still something I'd like to discuss with the guild before changing it. Under Del, if one didn't have their main pirate in the guild, they were not eligible to be promoted above Officer. Personally, I'd either like to at least implement a policy where, if I want to promote someone above Officer and their main pirate isn't in the guild, I'd have to discuss it with the Circle of Trust first before going through with the promotion. I just think that if someone is willing to devote a large amount of time in this guild, then they should still be recognized and rewarded accordingly, regardless of whether or not they have their main pirate in the guild. Reinstating the Party Officer Position I'm sure all of you realize this by now, but I can be a very forgetful person (and, admittedly, not the most creative person; not to mention I've been slightly inactive due to school). I'd like to have an assistant of sorts, one that plans regular events, runs Captain's Crew Nights when I am unable to, and so on. How I'll go about picking a Party Officer, however, will be decided soon. Month of Valor and Week of 300 Wins Originally, when Del tried to do the Month of Valor last February, naturally the leaderboards stopped updating and weren't fixed until later that summer; and he never got around to retrying the event. I'd like to have a second go at Month of Valor, especially since we recently broke the top 100 on the Overall Enemies Defeated leaderboard. The second attempt at the Month of Valor will use the same weeks/events that Del had originally planned. Prizes will, of course, still be awarded if the required goals are met. At the meeting we will negotiate and try to figure out the most opportune month to hold this event. In addition to the Month of Valor, I believe Del was also planning on launching a second Week of 300 wins; and I've noticed that quite a few guildmates were looking forward to this. While the first Week of 300 Wins focused on ranking on the blackjack leaderboards, this one will focus on Overall PvP Mayhem Wins to boost us into the top 50, and Overall Blackjack Hands Won to boost us into the top 25. The meeting is currently tentatively planned for Saturday, 6 October, 3 PM EDT (2 PM CDT, 1 PM MDT, 12 PM PDT, 8 PM GMT). If this date won't work for you, please suggest a better date; I'd like for as many people as possible to attend.
