September 2011 Riddle Contest

I have heard tell that this month do be the time o' the year when the little pirates wend their way to the little red school house and all the adults are left at home to.......... pillage.

Only problem being that when the little pirates return they expect help with HOMEWORK!!!

So, to git yer brain ready

We is gonna be doing a Riddle contest.

Below are 30 riddles and if you think ye got what it takes, then number you a list 1 - 30 and write down the answers in order.

HINT: Riddles are from POTCO, POF, and movies

1.
I am fluid like the sea, and dusty
Coming in many a form,
But always remaining the same.
Treasured by pirates,
I age quite well.

2. Raised, Half, or Full;
I work best not tattered
Catching some breezes.

3. Be there a place of sailors tales
About mermaids and whales,
It's not so hard to see.
Though it's not quite a rope,
It's more than a 'thread,'
What could I possibly be?

4. I sit second-handedly to the pride of the sea,
Large and low, I ride the tide,
I've got quite the broad sides, and quite the broadsides.

5. My hearts come in 4 and 6,
Though they be black as night.
I come to fight with the moon,
Only to retreat into the mist.
Who am I?

6. She be a place devoid of life,
But yet there be sounds of people,
And the "Caws!" ring through the sky.
Roam the day, but beware the night.

7. Though I might be a bit rusty at first,
I am a pirates preference
And well balanced in my trade.

8. A riddle about me?
Oh a riddler I be...
Or would that be we.
What's up is down?
Well I told myself so,
But we'll surely drown!

9. I'll Torment Ya!

10. There not be much fun for a Pirate,
If he be running into the likes of me.
I prefer to stay away from the ships and sea.
Closest I'll get is leaning upon a dock 'post'.

11. I'll bet you've spent a dubloon or two,
Lettin' em go to a lottery,
While you sit at a roulette wheel
Betting on the sports.

12. I YELL IN CAPS
TO GET YOUR ATTENTION!
CAN YOU LEND ME A PINT?...
OR MAYBE 97?...
"IS THAT SMOKE I SMELL? WHERE AM I?"

13. Fire and brimstone attract the undead,
But I see not the likes of rodents around here...
Just bats and alligators.

14. Not much here but a swamp.
I wonder why the gators don't eat the chickens?...
Maybe they're under an enchantment.

15. I've got the best deals in town, no lie!
If you're not satisfied, you can send the hounds after us!

16. I be bound 10 years to the sea,
But I'm not who you think I do be.
I'm not of tentactly traitoristic trials;
Rather I'm a fair captain to the dead.
I shall ferry you to the light,
So I may see my love, till the sun sets to night.

17. Darkness falls across the land,
But there's no midnight hour close at hand.
Rather it be a mist of green,
Of which a ship appears on the sea.

And from the dark of the murky depth,
Waves of a different kind emerge, adept
To fight the bravest of souls,
Who stand to block their way.

18. The midpoint of the map,
I be but a speck on the sea.
Taking a name so dark,
No-one would dare look for my treasure...
Well, none but one who is already cursed.

19. Every pirate knows my secret,
The Navy's in ignorant bliss.
The EITC's not paying attention,
But it doesn't matter...
...all the rum's gone.

20. We sail the sea, under the sea,
Raising only at the Captain's command.
Hiding away on an Island of Storms
An 'archive' of groups since past.

21. Toss me, Twirl me,
Slash me, Hurl me,
Just don't trade me
For a bigger blade.

22. Uninviting a place as I may seem,
I'm flocked to by the ruthless.
There be a court amongst my walls,
Though they be lawless people.
Should they return...
Their disruption turns to order here.

23. I'm a loyal servant of my master,
A master of the sea.
Sailors tremble at the idea
That I may appear below their decks.
I shall be released!

24. There be no pigs,
Nor there be pork,
But I've gotten quite the taste
For a revolution!

25. Left to the far ends of nowhere,
I would see that you tread lightly upon me,
You might lose your head in the woods
If you're not careful.

26. I remain motionless while retaining life,
Though I do not enjoy the likes of others.
Stray too close, and I shall spit upon you.
If only I could find some insects around here...

27. The Pearl is mine, I declare it so.
Jack says otherwise.
I've saved him more than enough
To earn it though.

28. I drift, ghost-like, along the uncharted waters,
A reminder and warning to those who approach me,
That those who 'had met one' of my brethern
Took a quick end.

29. People insist on playing me all the time,
And they don't seem to know their limits.
At least no one busts the table...

30. I've got the key to all,
And everyone's got a bone to pick with me.
I'm not one to talk though;
They're barkin' up the wrong tree.

Once you get it completely done

Send it on to me and at the end of the month, I will go over the entries. Those with all 30 correct will get

Those who miss one or more will get

To calm yer fears, I will be posting a list on September 24th showing who has been brave enough to send in a PM.
