Our current version of the site's software isn't going to be supported by it's creator for much longer. They are highly suggesting everyone upgrade to their new version which they are supporting.
Quite a few people are having different issues with today's modern browsers while viewing the site. Well, vB3.8.x only really supports IE 5-7 and FF 2-3. Chrome and some of the other newer browsers just weren't around when its base coding was created. vB4.x will support all the newest browsers.
vB4.x is suppose to have a higher level of security than vB3.8.x does. Seems hackers are constantly finding new ways to exploit the old coding to attempt to take over a forum site. Last thing we want happening, is some hacker taking over the site. We do a daily and a weekly backup of all the databases right now, to help prevent any loss of data. We've been quite lucky about this not happening to use so far and wish to continue making it harder for them to attempt such a thing.
With every change, there are always cons and pros. I just wish to prepare everyone that change is coming and it's something we've tried to avoid as long as possible.
