Invasions skewing the rankings?

I suspected that invasions might make weapons leveling difficult for my little pirates so I only used my level 45 + pirate that has mastered all her weapons.

I like to play with how I level up a pirate and see what works best for me and how I play the game.

I might try "an invasion pirate" and see how they turn out.
