The Edward Lowe Challenge/Valentines Day Massacre

In real pirate history, Edward Lowe was perhaps one of the most depraved characters there was. He was a pirate that made this scurvy seadog seem downright nice. Said to have sunk over a hundred ships in his 14 month career...

ANNOUNCING

The Edward Lowe Challenge

A race to sink 100 ships.

Date: Saturday, February 14th, 2009 (A massacre for Valentines Day.)
Time: 2:00PM PST, 3:00PM MST, 4:00PM CST, 5:00PM EST, 6:00PM Maximus standard time.
Duration: Estimate 1.5 hours for the first winner, 2 hours for most people, 3 hours to close the event.
Server: Meeting on Cozros server at O'Malley's on Tortuga. Each contestant will then be assigned their own quiet server to destroy.
Prizes: All prizes via poker table transfers, to a single pirate the winner names.
* 20,000: 1st pirate captain to sink 100 ships (without sinking or porting your ship along the way.)
* 15,000: 2nd pirate captain to sink 100 ships (without sinking or porting your ship along the way.)
* 12,000: 3rd pirate captain to sink 100 ships (without sinking or porting your ship along the way.)
* 10,000: 1st pirate captain to sink 100 ships (porting more than once.)
* 5,000: 2nd pirate captain to sink 100 ships (porting more than once.)
* 2,000: 3rd pirate captain to sink 100 ships (porting more than once.)
Completion: A screenshot link must be posted on this thread when complete. (A screenshot showing when you launched - i.e. at the start of the event, is also recommended.) If you launched multiple times, you must link ALL of the screenshots, to show a total of 100 or more ships. Example: 114 ships. Link it however you'd like - any which way it ends up on this thread for all to see, is OK.

Only one prize per winner, only one captain per ship. You can use any type of ship you want, have as many crew aboard as you want, matching or no matching, public or closed, any sea (on that server) you want, any ship targets you choose, whatever. But only the captain of the ship is entitled to the prize (transferable to a single other pirate.) And no complaints about someone coming along kill-stealing. Think of it like weather in golf - tough noogies - it is part of the game. Likewise, no complaints about slow-spawning because you kill them all too fast.

At the start of the event, I will list pirate names that have accepted the challenge here on this thread (after having told each person "their" server, on Cozros.) If you are not there at the start, reply on this thread for a late-comer server assignment, so I can send you a private message for your server and add you to the official list. 5 minutes one way or the other is not likely to make a big difference. If you are not on the official list by the end of the event, you can't post your screenshots here; you will not qualify to win if you haven't entered. (Entering late is fine, but you must launch after you enter.)

A start time will be given, during the server assignments. You can use the few minutes between assignment and start, to scout out your server, but remember to return to Cozros one minute before start time. (If you complain about a server before the start, I'll just assign you to a different one, no prob.) A screenshot link showing your launch/start is highly recommended...it should be posted with your winning screenshot link(s).

Note that you should synchronize your computer's clock (e.g. time.nist.gov) before starting POTCO, so that your timestamps are not misleading. Windows users can just double click the date time in the bottom right corner, then select "Internet time" to sync it.

If you plan on starting late, reply here on this thread early, so I can have your server assignment accounted for. Well, avast! If ye plan on starting on-time, too. Arrrrgh.
