New Player has question

Hello everyone! I just got my beta testing code for the game today, and I have a few questions..

First: Whenever i try and type something it will completly close the game and say i do not have permission to type.

Second: I've been seeing all these things about guilds.. what are they? And how do you join one?

and Third: I am on the quest for Mr. Gibbs and need to sink a navy ship.. and help on where to go to sink the ship and what level i should be looking for? All i could find was level 23+ ships.
